Ice Twisters

A research team, including Joanne Dyson Camille Sullivan, Damon Alex Zahara, Gary Ryan Kennedy, and Phil Nicholas Carella, launches a fleet of small UAVs from a C130 Hercules with the goal of disrupting a developing storm. At first, the operation appears to be a success and the team briefly celebrates a breakthrough, but the atmosphere shifts as a much larger, destabilizing storm forms on the horizon, threatening to outpace their control and reshaping the town’s fate.

Meanwhile, in Harrisford, Oregon, Charlie Price Mark Moses—an ex-scientist turned author—arrives with his assistant Nora Elman Chelan Simmons to promote his new book. The town buzzes with anticipation as Charlie does a book signing at a local shop, but soon the weather takes a violent turn. Charlie and Nora barely escape with their lives as the storm sweeps through, leaving a trail of devastation and claiming the lives of many others who were less prepared to fend it off.

Outside the town, Eric Kaj-Erik Eriksen and his partner Ashley Luisa d’Oliveira—two university students traveling to meet with Charlie as part of a course—notice unusual weather patterns. Eric spots something odd, while Ashley remains focused on reaching the book signing, anxious to keep their plans intact. Back in Harrisford, Nora is rushed to a hospital after the disaster, and Charlie, drawn back into the crisis, reconnects with Joanne and Damon, who have hurried to the scene after their monitoring systems detected the storm’s escalation.

Joanne, determined to halt the experiment, urges Damon to contact their backer Frank Robert Moloney. Frank, however, refuses to pull the plug, insisting the project must run its course and allowing the UAVs to continue flying. As the storm swells, a farmer is frozen by the advancing weather, underscoring the stakes and the danger the team faces from both nature and their own creation.

The trio—Charlie, Joanne, and Damon—seek out the site of the UAVs and discover one of the devices that has already crashed. Joanne divulges the truth about the experiment to Charlie, and Nora phones Charlie to update him on her departure for a TV appearance later that day. Eric and Ashley finally reach the town, only to find the book signing finished and the crowds dispersed as the weather’s menace grows.

With Charlie’s and Joanne’s leadership, the group reconnects with Gary and Phil at the experiment site. Charlie develops a theory about how the UAVs are driving the storms, while Damon reveals that Frank has not aborted the project. Joanne tries to warn Frank by phone, but he remains unresponsive, deepening the peril surrounding them. As the town’s people face the escalating weather, a tornado materializes and tears through the area, and Nora Elman [Chelan Simmons] is among those who suffer in the chaos—her car swept away by the storm and struck by a locomotive.

As the destructive winds subside, another tornado trailing behind the first strikes the landscape again. The team scrambles for safety, and Phil is killed in the chaos. They fall back to a nearby hotel where they realize Frank has effectively blocked any efforts to deactivate the UAVs. Meanwhile, Eric and Ashley break into a building to recalibrate their approach, shifting their presentation to emphasize the “freak weather” phenomena they’ve witnessed, aided by footage Eric captured.

The group subsequently discovers more wreckage, and Nora’s fate weighs heavily on them. Joanne blames Damon for failing to compel Frank to shut down the experiment, while Charlie mourns Nora as yet another casualty of a storm that seems to have a mind of its own. A fierce ice storm then blasts through, and a plane launched by Frank crashes amidst the chaos. Frank insists the UAVs can be turned off, but Bill informs him that the systems are unresponsive, leaving chaos and uncertainty in their wake.

Pursuing a decisive plan, the team heads to the university building where Eric and Ashley are holed up. Gary works to connect to a satellite and attempts to deactivate the UAVs from space, while the others race against time to implement a more radical solution. They warn Frank that the storms will reach populated areas unless action is taken, and Frank finally allows the UAVs to be destroyed. Yet even with their devices disabled, the storms continue to grow, threatening a broader catastrophe.

Eric and Ashley work to broadcast warnings to the public as Charlie, Joanne, and Damon sprint toward the university to execute a bold intervention: using the campus satellite to punch a hole in the ozone layer in an effort to extinguish the storms. As they race toward Portland, an ice-twister tears through the city, and Damon is struck down by large hailstones in a brutal, validating reminder of nature’s raw power. Yet Gary persists, finally succeeding in connecting to a space-based satellite. The intervention works, and the storms are extinguished, breaking the cycle of destruction that has gripped the region.

In the aftermath, Eric and Ashley assist Charlie and Joanne in bringing Frank to justice for the manipulation and coercion that pushed the team toward weaponizing the weather. The crisis ends with accountability and a hard-won lesson about the dangers of misusing science for profit, as the town begins to recover and the individuals who lived through the nightmare start repairing what was damaged, aware that the line between innovation and consequence can be perilously thin.
