Honky Donkey

We meet Wally, a pampered rich boy under his overprotective mother's care. She wraps him in blankets during a doctor visit, signaling their protective dynamic and fragility of his world.

After the doctor visit, the mother leaves to shop and tells Wally to go straight home with no stopping. Barclay is introduced as the snobbish/timid chauffeur who will drive him.

Wally tries to slip away by asking Barclay to drive through some alleys so he can meet the gang. He hopes to find friends his mother would look down on.

In an alley on a vacant lot, the kids are gathered around a makeshift merry-go-round powered by Algebra, their mule. The ride responds to sneezes and bells, giving it a quirky rhythm.

Wally offers to bring the gang to his house so they can play undisturbed. Barclay drives back slowly, with Algebra tied behind the car on a rope.

Algebra hears the ringing of a stop sign at a busy intersection and sits down, drawing a growing crowd. Spanky suggests a solution, and the children are crammed into the front seat with Algebra in the back.

They arrive at Wally's house and the gang heads to the yard to play. Barclay goes to pull Algebra from the car and is knocked unconscious when the mule kicks him.

Wally's housekeeper screams at the sight of the mule in the car as Barclay lies unconscious. Sneezes trigger Algebra to chase Barclay into the house and begin tearing things up inside.

Sneezes and ringing bells continue to unsettle the home as Algebra wreaks more havoc, with staff scrambling to keep up.

Wally's mother comes home unaware of the full chaos. She walks into a scene of the gang and staff in disarray, and the reveal shocks her into action.

The mother sneezes again and Algebra charges after her, forcing her to flee from the house. The pursuit presses her toward the exit.

Staff attempt a rescue as the front door opens and the sneeze sends Algebra after the mother outside. She makes a frantic dash toward safety.

The mother bolts across the large lawn and leaps into the fountain to escape Algebra. The mule lets out a long, wild laugh as the scene ends.
