Herbie Goes Bananas

Pete Stancheck inherits his uncle Jim Douglas's cherished possession, a unique car named Herbie. This marks the beginning of a thrilling adventure that will take him to unexpected places.

Accompanied by his friend Davy 'D.J.' Johns, Pete travels to the vibrant city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to recover Herbie. Little do they know that their journey will soon spiral into chaos.

In a comedic twist, the duo meets a mischievous pickpocket named Paco, who unintentionally causes mayhem by stealing their wallets. His actions inadvertently disrupt the sinister plans of a group of gold thieves.

Paco hides away in Herbie's hood, resulting in an unexpected journey aboard the Sun Princess cruise ship heading to Rio de Janeiro. Pete and D.J. also meet Melissa, an adventurous anthropology student.

As the Sun Princess hosts a costume party, Paco makes a daring escape from the ship’s crew, causing delightful havoc. Captain Blythe becomes increasingly frustrated with Herbie's antics.

In desperation, Captain Blythe orders Herbie to be thrown overboard while disembarking Pete, Melissa, and Aunt Louise at the next port. The group faces a setback as they attempt to regroup.

Against all odds, Herbie resurfaces from the ocean, ready for action once more. Paco, ever opportunistic, begins using the car as a taxi service to earn a living.

The malevolent gold thieves return, demanding that Paco hand over the film which shows the location of an ancient treasure. The tension mounts as the stakes become increasingly high.

During an electrifying chase in a bullfighting arena, Herbie bravely faces down a bull and manages to protect Paco. This moment solidifies their bond as they confront danger together.

Stranded in a small village due to a rainstorm, the group realizes the thieves are planning to steal a massive golden disk. They rally together to find a way to thwart the villains' scheme.

Paco reveals the villains' plot to his friends, leading Herbie to spring into action. They orchestrate a plan to intercept the gold before it falls into the wrong hands.

In a thrilling showdown, Paco and Herbie face off against the thieves using creative tactics, including cleverly thrown bananas. Their efforts lead to the villains being captured by authorities.

The group finds refuge back on the Sun Princess, where they brainstorm an exciting plan to enter a restored Herbie in the Brazil Grand Prêmio. Their spirits are high as they dream of racing glory.

As the group toasts to their adventures and the upcoming race, Paco explains the mathematical reason behind calling Herbie 'Ocho.' This moment strengthens their friendship and love for their little car.
