Grizzly Falls

The film opens with Harry Banks as a pre-teen whose life is upended when his mother dies. With his father abroad, he is sent away to a boarding school to be raised by others. This early loss sets the emotional stage for his later adventures.

Tyrone returns from abroad and takes his son on a dangerous bear hunting trip to Canada. They travel to the British Columbia wilderness to recruit help and prepare for the hunt. The journey begins a new era in Harry's life.

In British Columbia they meet Joshua McTavish, an experienced tracker with Scottish roots. The trio travels to the saloon to recruit more hunters for the expedition. The meeting sets up the mix of skill and skepticism that characterizes the hunt.

Hunters Grits, Genet and Lanky join the expedition, bringing dogs and guns. Some locals are skeptical about the plan, but the group agrees to participate. The formation of this hunting party foreshadows the challenges ahead.

On the first hunt, Harry glimpses two grizzly cubs that the others miss. He rejoins his father and sticks close as the group moves through the wilderness. The cubs' presence hints at the danger the mother bear will pose.

The next day, the crew captures the cubs and brings them back to a camp near Grizzly Falls. The mother growls with anger, warning them of consequences to come. Tension rises as the quest becomes personal.

The mother bear abducts Harry, seeking revenge on Tyrone. She takes him into the woods, nurtures him, feeds him, and even protects him from timber wolves. Initially fearful, Harry gradually begins to bond with the bear, naming her Mizzy.

Mizzy saves Harry from danger and the wild, including timber wolves. The boy's fear turns to affection as he grows to trust and love his bear mother. Their unusual bond deepens as they spend days together in the wilderness.

Meanwhile, Tyrone and Joshua search for Harry. The saloon hunters, meanwhile, are less committed and eventually one breaks his leg, forcing the group to abandon the original camp with the cubs and set up anew. Tyrone and Joshua press on despite setbacks.

Harry stumbles upon the saloon men's new camp while Mizzy searches for food. Inside a hut, one sleeping man is awakened and a tense moment nearly ends in violence. Mizzy bursts through the window, destroying part of the hut and eliminating one threat.

Tyrone and Joshua reach the camp and attack the assailants. Mizzy runs to her cubs outside and tries to free them. Tyrone shoots the man's hand, then wrestles him into the river, where the current carries the body away.

After the danger subsides, Harry says farewell to Mizzy as she returns to the mountains with her cubs. Tyrone reflects on the extraordinary adventure and commits to being a better father. The experience forges stronger bonds among the trio and closes Harry's chapter as a boy ready for life.
