Ashok, Dr. Rajasekhar and Lakshmi, Meera Jasmine, are siblings who endure tragedy early on when their landlord father Sarvarayudu, Dr. Rajasekhar and their mother die during childhood, leaving them tightly bonded. Lakshmi falls in love with Akash, Jai Akash, but she makes it clear that she would only accept him with her brother's blessing, which Ashok grants. On the same day, Ashok weds Nandini, Aarthi Agarwal, and the two couples settle into a peaceful life alongside Akash's cousins and sisters-in-law. Seven years pass; Lakshmi has two daughters and a son. Nandini becomes pregnant but suffers a miscarriage after Kantham, Hema Chaudhary, arrives claiming to be her aunt. Because of the complications, Nandini's uterus is removed and Ashok becomes childless. To please him, Akash and Lakshmi bring their children to stay with the family. When Akash returns home, his cousins cheat him and seize the entire property, and he ends up jailed in a cheque-bounce case. Lakshmi and her children are left as orphans. Guided by Kantham, Nandini throws Lakshmi out and warns her not to meet her brother. With no way to save her husband and family, Lakshmi and her children take their own lives. When Ashok learns of their deaths, he dies as well, underscoring that they are inseparable even in death.
