Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters

Captain Haruo Sakaki harbors a seething hatred for Godzilla after it killed his parents during humanity's exodus. He argues the Tau-e planet is uninhabitable and tries to force the ship's committee to rescind the order to send the elderly, including his grandfather, to scout it. He is arrested for his interference.

While detained, Haruo witnesses the exploratory shuttle explode during entry into Tau-e's atmosphere, a catastrophic failure that shocks the crew and heightens the stakes of the mission.

Haruo anonymously releases a classified essay on Godzilla's vulnerabilities, reportedly based on guidance from the Exif priest Metphies. The piece sways public opinion on the mission and undermines the central committee's stance.

Public outcry and shifting opinion force the central committee to reconsider the Tau-e colonization plan and decide to return to Earth.

The Aratrum reaches Earth orbit and deploys reconnaissance drones that confirm Godzilla is still alive on Earth and has radically altered the biosphere in its wake.

Metphies arranges Haruo's bail and outlines a plan to exploit Godzilla's vulnerability: an EMP-producing organ that creates an asymmetrical shield. He argues for a coordinated assault using a force of 600 troops to strike during the shield's recycling window.

As the crew prepare to depart toward the surface, they learn that almost 20,000 years have elapsed due to relativistic effects, and Earth's biosphere has been dramatically altered by Godzilla's presence.

Upon reaching Earth, the airborne Servums and other forces attack, damaging landing ships and inflicting heavy losses as the troops begin to mobilize.

Haruo launches the plan, but Leland's intervention provokes Godzilla, leading to a fierce confrontation. Leland is killed, and the group discovers that Godzilla's dorsal fins are its weak point.

With Leland dead, command passes to Metphies, who promotes Haruo to commander. Haruo rallies the remaining survivors and pushes to continue the plan against Godzilla.

The survivors lure Godzilla into a collapsed mountain pass and trap it, managing to kill the monster in what appears to be an offspring.

The battle reveals that the slain creature is only an offspring; the original Godzilla, now 300 meters tall, emerges from beneath a mountain and devastates the remaining crew.

Haruo is trapped beneath rubble as the original Godzilla departs, and he watches the creature vanish before losing consciousness, vowing to kill it.

In a secluded area after the credits, Haruo awakens and encounters an indigenous girl standing nearby, hinting at future encounters and unresolved vengeance.
