Haruo anonymously publishes the essay to sway public opinion aboard the Aratrum. The essay, provided by Metphies, reveals Godzilla's vulnerabilities and shifts the mood on the ship. This public shift forces the central committee to abandon the Tau-e colonization plan and instead return to Earth, which aligns with Haruo's goal of confronting Godzilla directly.

Metphies explains that Godzilla possesses an EMP-producing organ that generates an asymmetrical, permeable shield, making it nearly invulnerable. The shield only becomes vulnerable during a short window when the organ recycles. The plan involves implanting an EMP probe during this recycling period to trigger an implosion from the resulting energy buildup.

Due to relativistic time dilation, nearly 20,000 years elapsed while the crew traveled at near-light speeds. When the Aratrum arrives in Earth orbit, the crew discovers that Godzilla has radically transformed the planet's biosphere over these millennia, creating an entirely alien environment.

Leland provokes Godzilla during the ground assault, leading to his death. His sacrifice reveals that Godzilla's dorsal fins are the critical weak point. This discovery allows Haruo and the remaining forces to refocus their strategy on targeting the fins during the shield's vulnerable window.

With Leland dead and leadership shaken, Metphies takes command and elevates Haruo to commander to unify the remaining fighters. Metphies recognizes that Haruo's personal vendetta against Godzilla makes him the most determined leader to rally the troops and continue the dangerous mission.

Metphies, an Exif priest, provides crucial support to Haruo by arranging his bail and sharing the classified information about Godzilla's vulnerability. Metphies appears to use Haruo's vendetta as a way to unify the human forces and push forward with the mission against Godzilla, though his true motivations remain ambiguous.

The Servums are evolved aerial threats that have developed on Earth over 20,000 years of Godzilla's domination. When the human battalions descend to Earth's surface, the Servums attack the landing ships, causing heavy losses and disrupting the initial assault operation.
