Gintama: The Semi-Final

The Tendoushuu overrun the Terminal as their mothership sits atop, draining Altana. They channel the energy into Shouyou's body in a bid to resurrect him and grant true immortality. Gintoki and the others scramble to disrupt the ritual and save the city.

Katsura places himself between Shouyou's heart and the chaos, gripping the heart as Hitsugi presses the attack. Hitsugi stabs and destroys Shouyou's heart, revealing that the revival was a ruse to free Utsuro from immortality. Without the heart, Shouyou can only regenerate temporarily, and the ritual falters.

In the terminal's corridors and outer levels, the Shinsengumi, Hyakka and Oniwabanshu, along with Kabukicho residents, hold off the Tendoushuu forces. Matsudaira fires on enemy ships outside, aiding in the defense. The combined effort buys precious time as Altana energy continues to surge.

Gintoki reunites with Kagura and Shinpachi and they race toward the top of the Terminal. They fend off remaining foes along the way and reaffirm their resolve to face the climax together. The trio embodies the Yorozuya's unbreakable bond.

Takasugi arrives at the Tendoushuu ship and discovers Shouyou has been revived. Shouyou proceeds to cut down the remaining Tendoushuu antagonists, asserting his revived power. Takasugi confronts Shouyou about the revival and their shared past.

Shouyou urges Takasugi to return to Shoka Sonjuku, seeking unity rather than vengeance. He apologizes for never saving his disciples, lamenting the sacrifices made for their protection. The moment underscores the teacher-student dynamic shaping their choices.

As Takasugi nears Shouyou, he stabs him, revealing that Utsuro's blood has taken over his body as well. An immense explosion tears through the top of the Terminal. Gintoki, separated from the others, steels himself to face Utsuro incarnate.

Gintoki battles Utsuro who now manifests inside Takasugi's body. Utsuro realizes Takasugi did not stab him earlier; the truth is that Takasugi sacrificed himself, aided by Oboro's blood. The struggle centers on ending Utsuro's immortality once and for all.

In a final mortal strike, Utsuro dies and loses his invulnerability. Gintoki retrieves the dying Takasugi, who tells him that he has won again, then dies. The cost of victory weighs heavily on their friendship.

Shouyou uses the Altana coursing through his body to cancel out the Terminal's explosive energy. He directs the evacuation, telling everyone to flee via Sakamoto's ships. Shouyou disappears from sight as the plan unfolds.

Some time later, Tama wakes with memories of what happened, now living in a world transformed into Tokyo. Tamako reveals these memories, while Sakamoto writes to Gintoki about Katsura's remnants and the Kiheitai. The city begins rebuilding and the Yorozuya prepare for new work.

Matako scours the land for Altana gates and discovers a baby emerging from a hole. Tama visits the empty Yorozuya site and realizes the past isn't as fixed as it seemed. Hasegawa's sham ending surfaces, but the Yorozuya remain ready for new adventures, and the memory lingers.

In the final Ginpachi-sensei edition, Sorachi Hideaki makes a cameo to answer unresolved questions about Gintoki's lineage and the baby. The cameo provides a playful nod while leaving some mysteries intact for fans. The film closes with the Yorozuya stepping into their next job.
