What Happens in Giantland: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Giantland (1933) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

The frame begins with Mickey Mouse at home, entertaining a crowd of mice children by retelling the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, but he playfully steps into the role of Jack himself. The setup invites the audience to follow along as he weaves his own playful spin into the bedtime-story adventure.

Within the story, Mickey climbs a towering beanstalk and enters Giantland, a cloud-scraped realm where everything is oversized and comic in its scale. He glides on a gigantic butterfly toward a distant castle and peers inside through a narrow keyhole, only to have the giant return home unaware of the tiny visitor. Cleverly, Mickey hides among the banquet spread on the table as the giant sits down to eat and even flips through a newspaper titled EXTRA: GIANTS WIN.

The peril escalates when Mickey slips into a wheel of Swiss cheese, and the giant, absentmindedly, makes a cheese sandwich that traps the tiny explorer inside the crust. He avoids being chewed or swallowed and uses quick thinking to turn the tide: he sabotages the giant’s smoking pipe, triggering a comic chain of events that distracts and dismays the pursuer. The giant gives chase, but Mickey fires up a cheeky plan, catapulting a pepper-filled moment that makes the giant sneeze powerfully enough to blow loose a wall of the castle.

With the path clear, Mickey bolts for the beanstalk, the giant hard on his heels. He reaches the bottom and, in a dramatic turn, sets the beanstalk ablaze. The towering plant collapses and the giant plummets, tearing a huge hole in the ground as he falls away.

Back at home, the tale is wrapped up as Mickey tells the mice children that the giant fell through the Earth to China. The group responds with mixed reactions: the youngest mouse blasts a raspberry into her bottle in clear disapproval, while the others giggle and cheer. The episode closes with Mickey shrugging, the children laughing, and the quiet warmth of the shared storytelling moment lingering in the air.
