While enduring SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training in Captiva, Florida, O'Neil faces brutal treatment from Master Chief Urgayle. However, she retaliates fiercely, showcasing her resilience and earning respect from her peers and superiors.

As O'Neil trains, media attention begins to spotlight her journey, branding her as “G.I. Jane.” This newfound attention brings forth controversies and unfounded allegations, which threaten her standing within the program.

As the program nears its conclusion, a reconnaissance satellite carging highly dangerous plutonium crashes in Libya, prompting an urgent retrieval mission. The Navy coordinates with U.S. Army Rangers for this high-stakes operation to recover the critical materials.

During the retrieval mission, O'Neil showcases her tactical skills and becomes an invaluable asset to the team. Her leadership and decisive actions help the squad navigate the perilous situation and successfully retrieve the plutonium.

Upon their triumphant return, all participants, including O'Neil, are accepted into the Combined Reconnaissance Team. Master Chief Urgayle honors her with the Navy Cross, acknowledging her exceptional bravery and contributions throughout the challenging training.
