Six years after socialite Ursula Stanhope left civilization to marry George of the Jungle, George [Christopher Showerman] grapples with the triple duty of jungle king, husband, and father to George Jr. The pressure intensifies as Mean Lion [Michael Clarke Duncan] challenges his leadership, and Ursula’s mother Beatrice [Christina Pickles] teams with Ursula’s ex-fiancé, Lyle van de Groot [Thomas Haden Church], in a plan to bring Ursula and George Jr. back to civilization. Beatrice invites Ursula, George, and their son to visit Las Vegas, a glossy interlude that they accept, even as the glitter of the city tests the bonds of their unconventional family. Throughout the trip, Beatrice and Ursula’s socialite circle press Ursula to doubt George’s worthiness, while George watches from the wings, unsure how to interpret the subtler currents of his wife’s memory and devotion.

George’s mentor Ape [John Cleese] has fallen into gambling debts to several creditors, including Lyle. When he learns that Ape Mountain isn’t owned by Ape but by George, Lyle forces Ape to work off the debt for seventeen years and schemes to steal the deed to Ape Mountain from George’s wardrobe. He dispatches Sally [Marjean Holden] and Kowalski [Erika Heynatz] to Ape Mountain to begin the demolition, sending the jungle into a tremor that the animals try to weather by turning to Mean Lion [Michael Clarke Duncan] for protection and guidance.

Beatrice hires Armando, a master of hypnosis, to erase Ursula’s memory of George and plant the idea that Lyle is her husband. Meanwhile, George discovers Ursula has seemingly left him and leaves behind his luck-charm with her as he sets out to reclaim his family. Tookie [Kevin Greutert] informs George about the jungle’s destruction and Mean Lion’s revolt, prompting George to persuade Ape to abandon Las Vegas and join him on a mission to save the jungle, all while evading Sally, Kowalski, casino security guards, police helicopter pilots, and animal-control officers.

In San Francisco, Lyle fails to persuade Ursula of his worth, and George arrives with a clear resolve to win back Ursula and George Jr. Ursula insists she must remain loyal to her marriage vows, but a sequence of events leads to Ursula being knocked unconscious. George returns home with Ursula, Ape, George Jr., and Rocky the kangaroo [John Kassir], and the group rallys the jungle’s allies to stand against the diggers. George overthrows Mean Lion and directly appeals to the African animals to join him in stopping the destruction, aided by George Jr., Ape, Rocky, and Tookie [Kevin Greutert].

Lyle’s agents attempt to destroy the tree house but are foiled by George and Rocky. George Jr. shuts off the digging machine, and Lyle and Beatrice arrive to take Ursula and George Jr. into their custody. In a climactic confrontation, George defeats Lyle and hangs him from a tree. He shares a kiss with Ursula, restoring her full memory of their life together, while Beatrice is unexpectedly kissed by a gorilla. A deflated Lyle insults the Narrator, who then snaps him out of the story. With Ursula’s memories fully restored, George and Ursula renew their wedding vows and discover a new balance between George’s jungle duties and his actions as a husband and father.
