After being revived from cancellation, the Planet Express crew finds themselves duped by a gang of ruthless “sprunging” scammers who steal everything they own. The con artists then hijack Bender, forcing him to jump through time and seize control of Earth. The team must overcome Bender’s thieving ways and their own blunders to stop the takeover.

Three alien scammers obtain the crew's personal information and infect Bender with an obedience virus, seizing control of Planet Express. They plan to steal valuables from Earth's past and the doomsday device. The crew remains unaware of the hijacking at this stage.

The scammers trick President Nixon into ceding Earth to them, exiling humanity to Neptune. Hermes has his brain wired into the ship's battle computer, helping destroy the scammers' fleet. Leela fires the doomsday device, destroying the scammers' ship after Bender regains the device for himself.

Revelation: Lars is Fry's duplicate; final battle and space-time tear

Lars is revealed to be the Fry duplicate who survived Bender's 2012 attack and froze himself to return for Leela. Bender swaps Lars's tattoo onto Fry in the cryogenic tube to make the past and present coherent. The surviving Bender dupes explode, tearing a hole in space-time as Nibbler urges evacuation.
