Alfred and Natalie meet for a clandestine tryst in a hotel room, only to have photographers hired by Duffy burst in. Natalie is torn between her feelings and the peril to her reputation and Alfred’s career. The sensational exposure accelerates the personal and professional crisis.

The scandalous photos arrive at Alfred’s home, triggering a crisis at work and in his marriage. The next day, MacHardie confronts Mary to celebrate Alfred’s supposed promotion to partner, but Alfred rises and denounces MacHardie’s hypocrisy. He exposes Duffy’s duplicity and walks away from the partnership.

With the old ties broken, Alfred rejects Mary and returns to Natalie, seeking a new life. He leaves behind his wedding ring, symbolizing a break from his past and a commitment to a different future. The film closes on Alfred beginning anew with Natalie.
