Rick Penning, the determined captain of his high school rugby team, leads his team into a vital championship match. Unfortunately, they suffer a heartbreaking loss to their fierce rivals, the Highland Rugby Team, right in front of his father, Coach Richard Penning.

After the championship loss, Rick's life takes a dark turn during a reckless drinking and driving incident. The tragedy leaves his girlfriend, Tammy, severely injured, which drastically alters Rick's future.

As a consequence of his actions, Rick is placed in a juvenile detention center located in Salt Lake City. It is here that he must confront the reality of his mistakes and start to turn his life around.
