Flatland

In Flatland, three days remain until Year 3000. A Square, a lawyer, struggles to instruct his son A Hexagon in the art of sight recognition. His brother B, a clerk to President Circle, warns him to stay home during the upcoming Senate meeting.

B Square urges A Square to avoid the Senate. The session debates the Chromatist movement and Irregulars, and the government's response to growing demands for coloring themselves. Tension between reformist Chromatists and authority escalates.

Against his brother's warning, A Square meets his first Chromatist client, the woman charged with Chromatism. He contemplates the legal and moral stakes of permitting coloring. The encounter foreshadows the political fault lines in Flatland.

Leaving the Senate, President Circle's soldiers kill Senator Chromatistes and his supporters, sparking riots across the city. The streets flood with chaos as orders fail and mobs clash with authorities. A Square narrowly avoids danger while trying to reach his home.

A Square returns home and barricades his family against the rioters. The household becomes a fortress as martial law grips the city. He steels himself for a night of fear and uncertainty.

A Square wakes to the realization that the riots originated in the Senate meeting B attended. He traverses a martial-flat city in search of B Square. The danger to his family intensifies as the night progresses.

A Sphere, CEO of Messiah, Inc., suddenly appears and selects A Square as the one to spread the gospel of the third dimension. He plucks A Square from Flatland and transports him to Spaceland. The journey reveals a realm beyond two dimensions.

In the Great Hall, A Sphere explains the existence of three dimensions to President Circle and the Priests. The Flatland leaders reject the idea and attempt to kill A Sphere; witnesses are executed, except B Square who is imprisoned for life to suppress him. A Sphere's mission seems to threaten the status quo.

A Sphere escorts A Square to Messiah, Inc. to finish his education about the Three Dimensions. A Square is enthralled by Spaceland and speculates about higher dimensions beyond it. A Sphere remains guarded, warning against overreaching.

A Square's Spaceland intrusion becomes a national emergency. The Spaceland Senate summons him to explain the breach of protocol. They frame the incident as a potential war provocation by their enemies, the X-Axis.

The X-Axis intends to destroy Flatland, intensifying the debate. As A Square struggles to articulate his multi-dimensional theory, air-raid sirens wail and gravity overwhelms him, causing a collapse. Chaos spreads through Spaceland.

A Sphere succeeds in sending A Square back to Flatland as Messiah, Inc. is bombarded. A Square wakes in his own bed to discover that preaching about the third dimension is now illegal. He finds B Square jailed and attempts to explain Spaceland to him.

B Square is jailed; he resists the idea of Spaceland and knocks A Square unconscious to avoid execution. A Square tells his wife they intend to defect to the Northern Kingdom to spread the gospel. The plan signals a desperate bid for freedom.

A Square escapes with the aid of Frau A Square's war cry, stunning soldiers. They race toward the Northern Kingdom border as a battle erupts. Flatland begins to disappear, and a voice welcomes A Square into another dimension.
