In the vibrant city of Mumbai, Sunny, an aspiring actor and assistant director, nurtures dreams of making it big in Bollywood. Despite his enthusiasm, he faces continuous rejection at auditions, which tests his determination and patience.

Sunny seizes an unexpected opportunity to join an American film crew traveling to Rajasthan. They are there to create a documentary about border infiltration, marking a new chapter in Sunny's journey in the film industry.

While filming near the India-Pakistan border, the crew faces challenges from local police officers who are not keen on granting them filming rights. Sunny steps in, charming the chief officer by suggesting to film him, successfully convincing the police to allow them to continue.

As Sunny keeps the mood light amongst the crew and local police, he helps facilitate the shooting. His efforts ensure that the crew can film uninterrupted, solidifying his importance in the team.

After a mishap while changing a tire, Sunny is kidnapped by a terrorist group while riding back to camp. The leader expresses their disappointment, as they intended to capture an American rather than an Indian.

Confined in a house in Pakistan, Sunny meets Aftaab, a local who is a fan of pirated Hindi films. They quickly bond over their shared love for cinema, which becomes a source of comfort for Sunny amid his distressing situation.

While plotting his escape, Sunny faces various obstacles, including the harsh desert climate and watchful guards. Aftaab offers insights about the dangers on the Indian side, complicating Sunny's desire to return home.

Aftaab plays a Hindi classic, 'Maine Pyaar Kiya,' for the villagers, and Sunny captivates them with his passionate recitation of the dialogues. This moment strengthens his connection with the locals and creates a shared cultural experience.

The terrorists, unfamiliar with filming techniques, ask Sunny to assist in creating a ransom video for the Indian government. Relishing this opportunity, Sunny directs and participates in the production, trying to impress both the captors and himself.

As Sunny grows closer to Mehmood and Jawaad, a confrontation ensues when he mimics Bollywood actors shooting guns. Mehmood, frustrated with Sunny's antics, fires warning shots to assert control, heightening the tension in the captive situation.

Aftaab devises an escape plan that involves the villagers participating in a mock film project. This clever facade serves as a cover for their scheme to help Sunny regain his freedom, showcasing a spirit of community.
