The film opens with Vtv Ganesh as Jack, the owner of a surfing club that draws guests from all over the world, sitting with the police to share a backstory about a mysterious container and the people around him. He introduces his inner circle: his friend and fellow surfer Shiva, and Shiva’s girlfriend Kanimozhi, portrayed by Priya Anand. Through Jack’s memories, we learn that a strange arrival has unsettled their quiet coastal world.
A sumo wrestler washes ashore near Chennai, and the newcomer clings tightly to Shiva’s pinky in a way that hints at something deeper. Shiva quickly steps in, arranging a curtain to be sewn into clothes for the enormous stranger, simply to cover his size and help him blend in. The local police are alerted, and Shiva explains what he knows about the man, who seems to be mentally affected after the landfall and acts almost like a child. Despite the concern, Shiva proposes bringing the sumo wrestler to his and Jack’s home for care, though Jack resists at first, not sure if that plan can work.
Meanwhile, Kanimozhi’s dupatta slips from her clothing and lands on a local gangster: Yogi Babu. He reads the moment as a sign of affection and starts scheming to win her over—while also trying to curry favor with Kanimozhi’s father by drinking with him and playing out his typical antics, including making TikTok-style videos. The tension between Yogi Babu and Shiva intensifies as the sumo wrestler remains under their care, and Yogi Babu, driven by jealousy toward Shiva, launches an attack on the newcomer with his henchmen. Shiva intervenes and protects the man who has suddenly become part of their circle.
A simple glance at a Japanese flag in a shop sparks a realization: the sumo wrestler has a special connection to Japan. To honor his presence and the growing bond, Shiva, Kanimozhi, and Jack nickname him Ganesh, with Yoshinori Tashiro in the role of Sumo Tashiro. Ganesh’s presence powers a trip that takes them to Japan via a travel agent, where the trio hopes to help Ganesh reclaim a championship title and, perhaps, recover a forgotten part of his past.
In Japan, Ganesh remembers a life beyond the shore: he trained under a renowned master and endured manipulation by a powerful don who used him for advertisements and sent him back to India—an exploit that left scars on his career and his master’s memory. The journey is as much about the fight as it is about reclaiming identity and dignity. After grueling preparation, Ganesh wins the sumo championship, a triumph shadowed by the revelation of the master’s death at the hands of the very don who exploited him.
Back home, Shiva leaves for Australia with Kanimozhi, while Jack finds himself mired in debt tied to the surfing club’s fortunes. In a final turn of fate, a container filled with gold washes ashore during Jack’s moment of despair. He chooses to indulge in luxury for a time, but also leaves a portion of the gold for the police, a quiet acknowledgement of the world he’s left behind and the role the club once played in his life. The film closes on a note of renewed purpose and the strange, enduring bond between land, sea, and the people who navigate both.
