In the end, the horror at Strawberry Lodge isn’t merely about the physical danger but the power of fear itself. The evil spirit, which appears to feed on the guests’ worst fears, is revealed to be a supernatural force that manipulates reality, feeding on their anxieties to keep itself alive. Rom and Bianca learn that the lodge’s witches are gatekeepers of portals linking to evil, and these portals are sustained by the souls of those who succumb to their fears. The only way to escape is by refusing to believe in the horrors they are shown. Bianca survives because her faith and knowledge of the Bible’s verse Isaiah 41:9—the “don’t be afraid” message—causes the witch to panic and flee. Meanwhile, the other survivor, Kimmy, escapes because her greatest fear was losing her son, and she refused to stay and face the lodge’s cursed environment. The rest of the group, overwhelmed by the lodge’s manipulations, perish in the fictional horrors it conjures. The evil remains hidden at the lodge, waiting for new victims, ready to prey on their fears once again. The movie ultimately suggests that fear is the true source of evil, capable of trapping and destroying people if they let it control them. Bianca’s faith and understanding of her fears allow her to break free, but the entity remains lurking, hinting that the horror is far from over.
