Sakura kills Shinji in self-defense after he attempts to rape her at the Emiya Household. Zouken Matou had been manipulating Sakura's condition for years, using the Matou household's dark legacy to prepare her as a vessel. Rider's true identity is Medusa, the legendary Gorgon from Greek mythology. In Heaven's Feel, Rider is the only servant to survive the war's conclusion and choose to remain in the mortal world. Through the wish granted by the Grail's partial manifestation, Rider achieves incarnation - becoming a human with a physical body rather than remaining a servant bound to the system. This allows her to stay with Shirou and live a normal life.

Rider's character establishes her desire to live freely throughout the trilogy, and the Grail's magic enables what was previously impossible.

Sakura kidnaps Illya because she needs a second vessel to fully manifest as the Holy Grail. While Sakura already contains the Shadow and Angra Mainyu, the Grail requires two souls to activate - Illya's pure Einzbern blood makes her the perfect complement to Sakura's corrupted Matou lineage. Shirou unseals Archer's transplanted left arm, which contains both Archer's magical circuits and his combat experience. Using this arm, Shirou can replicate any weapon he sees, including Berserker's massive sword. Saber Alter is the corrupted version of Saber Alter, created when she was summoned through the tainted Grail. Despite their bond from previous encounters, Shirou must kill Saber Alter to reach Sakura and stop the corrupted Grail. This represents one of the film's most painful sacrifices.
