Rick, played by Walton Goggins, along with Frank, portrayed by Sam Rockwell, disguise themselves as a film producer and director, respectively, and visit Sritala, played by Patravadi Mejudhon, and Jim Hollinger, depicted by Scott Glenn, at their residence. Their purpose is to discuss the possibility of Sritala landing a role in a Hollywood movie. In a twist of events, Rick seizes an opportunity to speak privately with Jim about potential business ventures in Thailand, leading them to Jim’s office for a more intimate discussion.
During a lively party at the home of Greg and Chloe, Saxon, portrayed by Patrick Schwarzenegger, attends alongside his parents Timothy, played by Jason Isaacs, and Victoria, depicted by Parker Posey. In a revealing interaction, Saxon meets Chelsea, played by Aimee Lou Wood, and makes a bold observation that she resembles many women at the gathering who remain with older, unappealing partners solely for financial gain. Chelsea rebuffs this notion, passionately asserting that she and Rick are soulmates.
As the evening unfolds, Timothy grapples with his increasing dependence on lorazepam and is haunted by dark fantasies involving the deaths of both himself and Victoria. In a moment of confrontation, Saxon interrogates his father about his troubling behavior; however, Timothy dismissively denies any issues. Meanwhile, at the monastery, Lochlan, portrayed by Sam Nivola, expresses his desire to accompany Piper, depicted by Sarah Catherine Hook, on her upcoming year-long stay, which does not earn a warm response from her.
Chloe, played by Charlotte Le Bon, divulges to Saxon that her partner “Gary” is unusually open about infidelity, an admission that deeply unsettles him. He refuses to engage in such behavior, attempting to walk Chelsea to her room later, where he professes an interest in becoming more multidimensional and seeks her assistance in spiritual evolution. She tentatively agrees to help him meditate, but when his flirtation becomes too obvious, Chelsea grows anxious, offers him a handful of self-help books, and requests that he leave.
In a more clandestine discussion at the party, Greg, played by Jon Gries, confides in Belinda, portrayed by Natasha Rothwell. He reveals his true identity and expresses a desire to distance himself from the accusations surrounding Tanya’s death, which he claims he had no part in. He believes she would have wanted him to enjoy peace in life and proposes a substantial $100,000 to Belinda to support her new wellness center in exchange for honoring that sentiment. Belinda, shaken by the offer, asks for time to ponder while leaving with her son Zion, played by Nicholas Duvernay. Zion, anxious for their safety, encourages her to accept the money, warning that Greg may pose a real threat if they don’t reach an agreement.
At the resort, tensions rise during dinner between Jaclyn, played by Michelle Monaghan, Kate, depicted by Leslie Bibb, and Laurie, played by Carrie Coon. They argue over Laurie’s life choices, prompting her to storm away, leaving the others to enjoy a Muay Thai fight alongside Valentin, portrayed by Arnas Fedaravicius, Aleksei, depicted by Julian Kostov, and Vlad, played by Yuri Kolokolnikov.
On the dating front, Gaitok, portrayed by Tayme Thapthimthong, and Mook, played by Lalisa Manobal, engage in a conversation about future aspirations during their outing. Gaitok shares that he deeply respects Buddhist principles of non-violence, yet Mook is unimpressed, urging him to adopt a more ambitious and realistic outlook. Their date takes a turn as they watch the Muay Thai fight, where Gaitok recognizes Aleksei and Vlad as the culprits behind a boutique robbery.
Back in the bustling city of Bangkok, Rick confronts Jim regarding the murder of Rick’s father over an old land deal. Jim displays fleeting recognition of Rick’s mother’s name but refrains from taking responsibility for the past. In a heated moment, Rick points a gun at Jim but ultimately cannot pull the trigger. Instead, he opts to knock Jim’s chair over in frustration before he and Frank make a hasty exit, discarding the weapon in a downtown area. Through this encounter, Rick believes he has achieved a sense of closure and celebrates this emotional release at a nightclub with Frank, who indulges in drinks and drugs while Rick remains sober but content.
Amid this chaos, Laurie finds herself at Aleksei’s place, leading to a fleeting romantic encounter. As the night progresses, Aleksei asks her for a hefty $10,000 to support his ailing mother; Laurie’s financial constraints become evident when she declines his request. Unexpectedly, Aleksei’s girlfriend reappears, prompting Laurie to make a hasty escape through a window before the situation escalates further.
Finally, as Timothy’s psychological turmoil deepens, he envisions extreme outcomes involving violence against both Victoria and Saxon. When he searches for his concealed gun, he is met with shock and dread upon discovering that it has gone missing, leaving him uncertain of what may develop next.
