Fair Game

Jessica operates a wildlife sanctuary in the Outback and soon discovers hunters shooting kangaroos on her property to feed pet food companies. She documents the incidents and tries to notify authorities, hoping to put a stop to the killings. The violation threatens the sanctuary and the animals she cares for.

A transport van and a modified Ford F100 menace her on the road as she drives into town. Ringo climbs onto her car and the windscreen is broken, escalating the confrontation. The chase ends with Jessica realizing she is being watched and followed.

Jessica reports the threats to the police, but they are indifferent and say they can do nothing without hard evidence. She is left feeling exposed and vulnerable as the hunters continue their actions. The lack of support pushes her to confront them herself.

In the local store, Jessica meets Sunny, the calm-seeming leader of the hunters. He buys one of her paintings and appears friendly, refusing to acknowledge the wrongdoing. The encounter foreshadows the complex dynamic between her and the hunters.

As Jessica leaves, Ringo attempts to take upskirt photographs, crossing boundaries of privacy and safety. She publicly humiliates him, undermining his assault and asserting her boundaries. The incident deepens the personal tension between her and the hunter.

Jessica finds a polaroid of her sleeping naked pinned to her fridge, realizing Ringo must have broken into her house. The break-in confirms that the threats are intimate and personal, not just external. She becomes more determined to protect herself and her sanctuary.

At Sunny's invitation, Jessica visits the Taylors and discovers Ringo and Sparks using her painting for target practice. She confronts the intruders and forcibly destroys Ringo's camera with a borrowed rifle. The confrontation shifts the conflict into a direct showdown with the hunters.

Sunny invites her to borrow their rifle, and she uses it to render Ringo's camera useless, disrupting their activities. In retaliation, the hunters wreck her car and chase her into the outback. She escapes on foot but loses her dog Kyla.

At night, the hunters return her battered car with a dead kangaroo in the front seat, a twisted message of what they are capable of. She returns to her house on foot, battered but determined. The attack marks a turning point in her resolve to stop them.

The hunters torment Jessica's horse Frankie and threaten her directly as the siege intensifies. They storm the sanctuary, blasting her house and outbuildings with their remaining weapons. Jessica fights back in the only way she can, setting up traps around the property.

Under cover of darkness, Jessica sneaks into the hunters' camp and welds their hunting rifles together, rendering them unusable. The act of sabotage shifts the balance of power and leaves the hunters angry but unable to rely on their firearms. She steels herself for the retaliation that follows.

The hunters retaliate by chasing Jessica, but she steals their transport van and overturns it with Sparks inside, who survives the crash. She lures Ringo onto his motorcycle into a canyon, where he narrowly escapes destruction. The chase pushes the conflict toward a final confrontation.

Jessica lures the hunters into a cave and blocks them in with a rockslide, cutting off their escape. Ringo shoots Frankie as she rides away, signaling the end of their last chase. The cave trap marks a turning point in the battle.

The hunters eventually escape the traps Jessica has laid, but they fall victim to them: Ringo is electrocuted and Sparks impales himself on an anvil. Sunny drives the F100 into a pit trap and is burned alive by a Molotov cocktail. Jessica surveys the wreckage and takes stock of what remains of her sanctuary.

Surveying the destruction, Jessica is reunited with Kyla, who arrives limping but alive. The dog's survival provides a hopeful note after the brutal confrontation. Jessica is left to tend the sanctuary and its remaining life.
