Eye of the Beast

Robbie and Krissy celebrate a date on a small speedboat off Fells Island when a massive tentacle lashes onto Krissy's leg. Robbie panics, falls overboard, and is pulled under as more tentacles emerge around them. The boat is crushed and Krissy is torn apart, leaving Robbie to recount the horror with his dying breath.

The next day, Krissy's older brother Will Neepanak goes to Kat Tomas's office to report her missing. The community mobilizes to search the waters and surrounding shores for clues. Kat grapples with the growing case and the pressure to protect her town.

Dan Leland arrives from NORA to investigate the dramatic drop in fish catches. He is introduced to Captain Gunner Thorson and agrees to join the Freya's expedition to study the waters. The team begins a cautious, high-stakes mission to confront whatever is in the lake.

A family on the beach witnesses a massive tentacle snatch the father and drag him under the waves. They report him missing as panic spreads through the shoreline. The scene foreshadows a dangerous predator hiding in the lake.

During a late-night watch, Dan detects a large object on the radar that does not respond to radio calls. They locate Robbie, unconscious in a life preserver, and he mutters about a monster that killed Krissy with his dying breath. Dan collects fragments of the wrecked speedboat for analysis.

Back at the morgue, Gunner, Spider, and Jordy try to cover up the attack by dismissing Robbie's statements and stealing pieces of the wreckage. Dan emails photos of the massive sucker marks to a colleague for expert opinion. The tension between investigators and locals grows as skepticism and fear spread.

Old Salt discovers Krissy's leg and a battered torso from a missing tourist, turning both in to authorities. Will is immediately notified and rushes to the scene, realizing the danger is escalating. The town braces for further losses while officials weigh their next moves.

Dan and Kat push for a temporary fishing ban to allow resources to respond to the crisis. Dr. Gorman from NORA denies the request and cuts funding, dismissing the possibility of a giant freshwater squid. Kat struggles with the setback, revealing she had seen the beast years earlier and hoping to prove its existence.

The squid attacks Gunner and Jen on the pier, and Gunner chops off a tentacle to bring it to the bar as proof. The grisly evidence stiffens the town's resolve to act and accelerates the plan to hunt the creature. Tension rises as the community debates risk and leadership.

Gunner, Jordy, and Spider prep the Freya for the hunt, insisting on going against Dan and Kat's group's plan. Dan and Kat join Will and his crew aboard the Wiiskachaan, intending to net the squid between the two vessels to disorient it. They rig chum lines and coordinate their approach.

They bait the water with chum to lure the squid toward the boats, but the Freya's engine suddenly dies. The creature closes in on the immobilized vessel, increasing danger for everyone aboard. The plan pivots toward a direct, dangerous confrontation.

The squid attacks Will's boat, sinking it and killing Will and his two crewmen. The remaining crews scramble to adapt as the threat closes in around them. The loss underscores the urgency of completing the hunt before more people are hurt.

Kat, Dan, and Gunner coordinate a final strike against the squid, while Spider and Jordy have already fallen during the chaotic chase. They fire a harpoon into the creature's eye and apply the boat's power to deliver a fatal electric shock. The killer is defeated as dawn breaks over the water.
