Dune Drifter

Set in a distant future, humanity has colonized space and fights the Drekk across ships, hyperspace routes, and alien worlds. Advanced propulsion, shields, and life-support systems shape the battles, making survival a constant challenge. The story centers on ingenuity and perseverance under life-and-death pressure.

Terra Prime serves as the human base in the Drekk war, a hub for frontline fleets and orbital defense. Erebus is a hostile planet with a corrosive atmosphere where Adler crash-lands and the crew confront deadly terrain and scarce air. The Valiant starship and Dune Squadron operate in hazardous space above Erebus, enduring heavy Drekk assaults while attempting a rescue and a retreat.

🌌 Isolation

Adler finds herself alone on Erebus after the battle above Erebus, with dwindling air and no immediate rescue. The alien landscape and hostile weather push her to improvise with limited resources. The isolation compounds the emotional and physical pressure as she fights to stay alive.

⚔️ Conflict

The war with the Drekk provides the backdrop for intense space combat and brutal close-quarters battles on the planet's surface. A single ship's attack demonstrates how shields can hold back plasma, but not morale. The cost of battle is borne by Adler's team; most of Dune Squadron is killed, underscoring the war's brutality.

🛰️ Technology

Engineering and resourcefulness determine life or death. Adler salvages a plasma injector coil from a Drekk ship and uses it to repair her own craft. She also repurposes scavenged weapons and navigational codes to guide her escape. The story emphasizes engineering ingenuity as a key to turning dire circumstances into a pathway back to Terra Prime.
