Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2019) Timeline Explained – Every Event in Order

King Vegeta exiled infant Broly to the desolate planetoid Vampa because he feared Broly's immense latent power would challenge his own son's position as the strongest Saiyan. When King Vegeta discovered that a commoner's child possessed strength surpassing Prince Vegeta, he made the cruel decision to eliminate the potential future threat by exiling the baby to die on Vampa.

Frieza deliberately killed Paragus to control Broly. Paragus had been using a remote control device to keep Broly obedient, but when Cheelai stole the remote, Paragus lost control. Frieza saw an opportunity and eliminated Paragus, knowing that Broly's emotional reaction would trigger his dormant Super Saiyan transformation and make him even more powerful against Goku and Vegeta.

Goku and Vegeta used the Fusion Dance technique, which they learned from Piccolo. This technique requires two warriors to perform a specific sequence of poses to merge into a single, infinitely more powerful being. The Fusion Dance was their only hope against Broly's overwhelming strength after both Super Saiyan Blue forms proved insufficient.

Goku saw Broly's immense potential and wanted to help him control his power. After witnessing Broly's incredible strength, Goku recognized him as a valuable fighting partner and an ally who could help protect the universe. Gogeta chose to spare Broly after witnessing the genuine bond between Broly, Cheelai, and Lemo. When Cheelai and Lemo used the Dragon Balls to wish Broly back to Vampa, Gogeta recognized that Broly wasn't inherently evil but had been manipulated by Paragus. Additionally, Frieza was already defeated, and Gogeta saw potential value in having Broly as a powerful ally rather than destroying him.

Cheelai secretly stole the remote control device that Paragus used to keep Broly under his command. This remote allowed Paragus to restrain Broly with pain signals whenever he disobeyed. With the remote gone, Broly was freed from his father's manipulative control, though this also led to Broly's uncontrollable rage when Paragus was killed.

Frieza feared the legendary Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God transformations that the Saiyan prophecy promised. Having learned about these legends, Frieza decided to annihilate the entire Saiyan race before any warrior could achieve these powerful forms and challenge his galactic dominion. Broly's Super Saiyan transformation was triggered by emotional trauma. When Frieza killed Paragus, Broly experienced an intense surge of grief and rage. This emotional shock awakened his dormant Super Saiyan power, which had been suppressed since childhood. The combination of his natural immense strength and this emotional catalyst made his transformation far more powerful than typical Super Saiyan transformations.

Bardock sent his infant son Kakarot (future Goku) to Earth using a small space pod. After discovering Frieza's plan to annihilate the Saiyan race, Bardock and his wife Gine made the desperate decision to send Kakarot away in hopes he would survive and escape Frieza's genocide. The pod was launched toward Earth, where Kakarot was eventually found and adopted by humans.

Frieza hired Broly because he needed additional powerful warriors to eliminate Goku and Vegeta, who had become major threats to his empire. After the Tournament of Power, Frieza learned that six Dragon Balls were on Earth and saw an opportunity. He recruited the newly freed Broly and Paragus as assassins, believing Broly's raw power could succeed where his own forces had failed.

Broly possesses a unique Saiyan ability called Zenkai Boost, which allows him to become stronger each time he recovers from near-death experiences. His constant struggles for survival on Vampa, combined with the adaptive combat against Goku and Vegeta, triggered rapid power escalation. Additionally, Broly's Wrathful Super Saiyan form allows his power to grow exponentially the longer a battle lasts.
