Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary

In the year 1897, a visitor from the East, Count Dracula, makes his entrance to London and unwittingly finds himself welcomed into the home of Lucy Westenra. Shortly after his arrival, Lucy falls under Dracula’s spell, leading to a fateful bite that curses her life. As her behavior spirals, she tragically turns on her fiancé. Enter Dr. Van Helsing, who assumes the role of Lucy’s protector. A series of blood tests leads him to exclaim, > “Vampyre!” This serves as the revelation behind her affliction, prompting Van Helsing to shroud her in garlic as a precaution.

Meanwhile, the plot thickens when Renfield, a resident of the nearby asylum, stages an escape. Chaos erupts as demons break into Lucy’s home, waking her mother amid the pandemonium. In a moment of terror, Lucy’s mother unwittingly re-invites Dracula into their midst. This disastrous event culminates in the deaths of both Lucy and her mother, leading to a somber funeral procession. The following day, Renfield is recaptured and returned to the institution. Bizarre occurrences grip the city, with newspapers buzzing about a “Bloofer Lady” who is mysteriously linked to the murders of infants. During an interrogation, Renfield reveals a startling confession: it is Dracula who has resurrected Lucy, turning her into a malevolent force, and hints that the key to resolving the matter lies within the graveyard.

Determined, Van Helsing and Lucy’s admirers venture to the graveyard, where they witness Dracula in a passionate embrace with the undead Lucy. Once Dracula departs, Van Helsing proclaims, > “We must destroy the false Lucy so the real one may live forever.” When they open Lucy’s coffin, she rises to attack, but is ultimately subdued by Jonathan’s wooden stakes and a decisive blow from Van Helsing with a shovel. As they regroup, Van Helsing proclaims their mission: they must hunt down and vanquish the vampyre.

As events unfold, Mina, Lucy’s best friend, finds herself in a convent, caring for her injured fiancé, Jonathan Harker. Harker, having once ventured to Castle Dracula to finalize a land sale, recounts his dangerous encounter with Dracula’s three seductive brides. After enduring their attacks and finally sealing the deal for Dracula, Harker escapes and finds solace in the convent. However, Mina discovers Harker’s diary, revealing unsettling secrets of his experiences, which awakens a newfound and bold desire within her, alarming Harker, who hastily flees.

In her quest for Jonathan, Mina unexpectedly falls into the clutches of Dracula, who lures her back to his castle and solidifies their sinister bond by biting her neck. The narrative escalates as Harker teams up with Van Helsing and their companions to rescue Mina from the clutches of Dracula. They confront the dreaded brides, brandishing their wooden stakes with determination. The men eventually locate Mina, discovering the mark of Dracula’s bite, prompting them to vigorously search for the vampyre.

An intense confrontation ensues, where Dracula confronts them, but as the turmoil mounts, Mina seizes a moment to rush to a window and brandish a cross, flooding Dracula with sunlight. The tide turns, leading to a triumphant moment when the men, recovering from the conflict, encircle Dracula and strike him down with their stakes. Ultimately, Van Helsing’s men ensure the castle’s destruction, leaving a motionless Dracula impaled on a massive stake, signifying the end of his dark reign.
