Amanda Post returns to the house where she grew up to tend to her dying grandmother Harriet. The home is scarred by the memory of her mother’s unsolved murder. There she confronts three predatory figures: Doctor Crawther, who refuses to admit Harriet to a hospital; Judge Stemple, a corrupt local magistrate; and museum curator Claude Kearn, who covets the family’s antique collection. After rejecting their schemes, Amanda is tormented by a menacing phone caller who seems to know her every move.
