Do Aur Do Pyaar

Kavya Ganeshan, a dentist, and Aniruddh “Ani” Banerjee, an industrialist, have been married for twelve years. What began as a heartfelt love match has cooled into a quiet, uneasy routine, and both quietly entertain mistresses—Kavya with Vikram, a successful photographer who moved from New York to Mumbai for her, and Aniruddh with Nora, a struggling theatre artist. Despite the emotional distance, they still share a home, unable to admit that separation might be healthier than the stifling sameness that has settled in.

When Kavya’s grandfather passes away, the couple travels to Ooty for the funeral. Kavya is estranged from her conservative family due to having eloped with Aniruddh, and tensions flare, especially with her father, as relatives gather for the final rites. They anticipate Kavya’s brother Karthik’s arrival from Los Angeles, and the family dynamics add a heavy, religious undertone to the proceedings.

During their stay, Kavya and Aniruddh drift back to a hotel from their dating days, where old memories surface and the chemistry that once defined them flickers back to life. That night, after a few drinks, they become intimate again, but a grave misunderstanding follows when they are found near the body of Kavya’s grandfather, casting a shadow over the reunion and complicating their already fragile trust.

Back in Mumbai, the couple tries to reforge their bond, seeking closeness and momentary solace in each other. Yet as they rekindle their connection, they drift further away from their respective partners, and suspicions begin to surface. The tension intensifies when Vikram secretly follows Kavya and catches Aniruddh at her apartment, raising questions that neither wants to face.

The emotional turmoil intensifies as a broker’s call reveals an apartment booking made in Kavya’s name along with Vikram’s, and Aniruddh, posing as Vikram, approves the booking—an undeniable signal that Kavya’s affair is more than a rumor. Nora steps into the picture again, visiting Kavya to confront her about Aniruddh, widening the gulf between the couple and their lovers.

A rupture finally erupts as Kavya and Aniruddh confront the realities behind their infidelities and the unresolved wounds that damaged their marriage. Aniruddh opens up about the crushing pressure to change after his father’s death and to take over the family business, a pressure that forced him to abandon his musical passions. Kavya accuses him of changing too much and losing the essence of who they were together, and the two agree to separate and sell their apartment, hoping to salvage what remains of their own identities.

A year passes, and Kavya returns to the apartment one last time as the sale closes. A phone call from Aniruddh interrupts the moment, and he arrives soon after. Kavya reveals that she broke things off with Vikram not long after their separation and spent time traveling across Europe. Aniruddh and Nora have also parted ways. As they share take-out on the balcony of their old home, the memories come flooding back, and they find themselves laughing and reconnecting in a rare, hopeful moment—two people who once believed separation was the only path now contemplating what might lie ahead when they choose to rebuild what they had.
