Dharma Durai

Dharmadurai, the elder brother, showers love on Rajadurai and Ramadurai and borrows ₹30,000 to fund their education, despite their father's warnings. He even arranges Rajadurai's marriage to Vaibhavi to save him from jail. This generosity sows the seeds of future betrayal as the brothers' ambitions outgrow his goodwill.

Using the borrowed money, the brothers relocate to Madras and plunge into smuggling, quickly amassing wealth through illicit activities. They double-cross Jose by keeping the goods and filing a police complaint against his son Ajay, severing their alliance. The expansion fuels arrogance and distance from Dharmadurai.

Ajay is killed by Ramadurai during a farewell party, and Ramadurai convinces Dharmadurai to take the blame for the murder. Dharmadurai is sentenced to seven years in prison, which drives a wedge between him and his brothers. The brothers' criminal empire continues while he remains isolated.

As the net closes on the smuggling operation, Jose and his henchmen are arrested by the authorities. Dharmadurai serves his time in prison, while Parvathi gives birth to a baby boy during this period. The family ties unravel further as the family history unfolds.

Several years later, Rajadurai and Ramadurai kill their elderly father when he opposes selling the ancestral house to pay back Dharmadurai's loan. They drive Parvathi and her infant son out of the house, severing the last ties with Dharmadurai. Parvathi and the boy are left with nowhere to go.

Parvathi, with her young son, moves to Madras seeking shelter after the exile. Ramadurai later recognises the boy as the one who killed their grandfather and kills him in a brutal act, deepening the family tragedy.

With nowhere to go, Parvathi takes a job as a housemaid in Madras and endures a hard life to keep her child safe. She does this while Dharmadurai serves his prison term, slowly rebuilding herself in the city.

Dharmadurai completes his seven-year sentence and returns to learn how his brothers betrayed him and how Parvathi has suffered. He goes to their house to confront them, thrashing them mercilessly until their wives intervene. He then disowns them and chooses a life apart from their criminal world.

Following the confrontation, Dharmadurai disowns his brothers and moves with Parvathi to a forest, seeking peace away from the corrupt family business. They begin a new life far from the smuggling networks and city troubles. The forest becomes their refuge.

In the present day, Jose and his henchmen are released from jail and retaliate by kidnapping Rajadurai and Ramadurai. The brothers are forced into a dangerous confrontation with the criminal old regime they've helped create. The act rekindles the old family tensions and pushes Dharmadurai back into action.

Parvathi, now in the forest, advises Dharmadurai to rescue his brothers, urging him to act despite his reluctance. Her counsel frames the moral arc of the story as old debts come due. Dharmadurai hesitantly agrees to attempt the rescue.

Dharmadurai goes to the alleged hideout and rescues Rajadurai and Ramadurai, pulling them from their captors. The brothers seek forgiveness for their past betrayals, and Dharmadurai accepts that forgiveness, marking a fragile, hopeful reconciliation.
