Devil's Due

Zach and Sam decide to start a video diary the night before their wedding to document their family history for their future child. They want to give their future kid a record of who they are and where they come from. The idea sets the fate in motion as the couple heads into marriage.

After their wedding, Zach and Sam travel to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon. The trip includes a stop at Carnival and a brush with strangers that foreshadows danger. The couple's idyllic escape quickly gives way to fear.

At Carnival they speak with a palm reader who tells Sam she was 'born from death' and that 'they have been waiting for her.' The prophecy unsettles them and contributes to a growing sense of dread. The warning hints at horrors to come.

The couple, lost on an unfamiliar street, hires a taxi driver who ferries them to a nightclub. After drinking, they pass out and Sam is taken to an underground chamber where she endures a satanic ritual. An inexplicable force engulfs her as the night dissolves into darkness.

Zach and Sam awaken the next day back in their hotel, unable to remember what happened the night before. They are frightened by the missing pieces of their memory and the sense that something external is at work. The mystery of the night begins to intrude on their lives.

Weeks after returning home, Sam discovers she is pregnant, despite claiming to have taken birth control pills religiously since the wedding. The revelation fills them with mixed joy and unease as they confront the unknown.

During the first ultrasound, doctors say the baby looks healthy and due by the end of March. The ultrasound monitor flickers with static for a moment before returning to normal. The moment sows quiet unease about what lies ahead.

As the pregnancy progresses, Sam experiences nosebleeds, bruising, cravings for raw meat, and sudden bursts of superhuman strength and telekinetic control. She also reacts with rage whenever she fears for the baby, signaling a threat within.

Masked men install hidden cameras to monitor Sam's progress, while a second doctor appears and performs amniocentesis. Zach learns that Sam's mother died in infancy and was delivered by cesarean, hinting at a dark lineage. The medical mystery deepens alongside the surveillance.

At eight months pregnant, the couple attend a church holy communion. Their niece is frightened of Sam, and the priest coughs up blood as part of the mounting oddities. Zach notices the cab driver in church footage, tying the events to the ritual network.

Zach digs into the ritual symbols and learns they relate to summoning the Antichrist. He shares findings with his sister and confronts a hospital priest about the cult's aims. The cab driver, the second doctor, and the cult leader appear in the evidence as part of a larger conspiracy.

Three friends in the woods discover slaughtered deer, and soon Sam is seen eating the deer's intestines. When the friends speak, she kills them telekinetically, revealing the monster within.

Zach confronts the ritualists at home; Suzie is killed as the house is engulfed by the beast within Sam. Sam dies after a last act of trying to protect or deliver the baby, and the intruders take the newborn as the doctor is arrested. The ending shows a Paris honeymooner encountering the same cab driver, signaling the cycle will start again.
