Nimmy and Sally felt unwanted both at school and at home. Devika lost her job as a consequence of the scandal caused by Nimmy and Sally's disappearance. Since she was the teacher overseeing the picnic where the girls escaped, she was held responsible and dismissed, which added urgency to her later involvement in finding them.

After the girls moved to a youth hostel and started doing odd jobs to survive, they encountered Harishankar in town. He befriended them during their struggles to make ends meet, eventually becoming a trusted figure in their lives.

Despite discovering that Devika was the swindler who had caused his suspension from the bank, Hari fell in love with her. He decided to help her regain her teaching position and believed he could leverage his knowledge of the girls' whereabouts to broker a deal that would also free him from his own suspension.

During the mediation meeting between the girls and Devika, Hari revealed that Devika was his fiancée.
