During the school picnic, Nimmy and Sally slip away feeling unwanted and out of place. They believe they are troublemakers and are not wanted at school or at home, so they seize the chance to escape Devika's oppressive presence. This impulsive act sets the entire story in motion and leaves their future uncertain.

After escaping, the girls find shelter at a convent for the immediate night and then move to a youth hostel, posing as traveling college students to stay under the radar. They begin doing odd jobs to survive in this new life on the run. Back home, Devika loses her job as a consequence of the scandal surrounding the girls' disappearance.

The girls' living situation brings them into contact with a stranger, Harishankar, who befriends Nimmy. Sally grows jealous of his influence over Nimmy, initially trying to protect her friend but gradually accepting the situation. The trio's dynamic becomes a rising source of tension and vulnerability.

Nimmy shares her truth with Harishankar, and he reveals his own fall from grace. He is a suspended bank manager who was duped by someone pretending to be the wife of a dead man. Nimmy's photo album helps him realize that the swindler is Devika, and he begins to fall in love with her, vowing to help her regain her job.

Hari promises Nimmy that he will help her return and secure Devika's reinstatement, presenting it as a way to end Nimmy's suffering. He suggests returning to the school while he expects to be free from suspension soon. Nimmy is drawn into his plan and begins to rely on his assurances.

The group agrees to have Devika mediating between Nimmy, Sally, and Hari, hoping to resolve the tension. Hari positions himself as the mediator and uses his influence to persuade them to confront Devika rather than resist. Sally and Nimmy consent to this mediated path toward a fragile reconciliation.

During the mediation, Sally explodes at Devika for reasons that are never clearly explained and storms out. Nimmy tries to keep the meeting on track, but the tension escalates when Hari reveals that Devika is his fiancée. The revelation shifts the power dynamics and deepens the emotional stakes.

Back at the hostel, Sally decides to flee and pleads with Nimmy to come along, but Nimmy refuses to leave. They share a poignant, intimate goodbye that underscores the depth of their bond.

Sally returns halfway and finds Nimmy about to commit suicide. They break down and hug, overwhelmed by the gravity of their situation and the manipulations surrounding them. The moment marks a turning point toward tragedy as they confront their isolation.

The next morning, Hari, Devika, and the school management arrive to discover that Nimmy and Sally are dead in bed together. Hari wears a haunted expression as he processes the consequences of his deceit and manipulation. The scene serves as a devastating culmination of the intertwined lies and desperation.

The film ends with Hari's anguished realization, captured in the infamous what have I done? expression. Devika's fate and the girls' futures linger in memory, leaving viewers to ponder responsibility and the price of manipulation.
