Julia Jones, portrayed by Alyson Hannigan, is a woman grappling with her body image and longing for love. Despite her dreams of marrying Napoleon Dynamite, she faces constant rejection, even in her fantasies. In her diary, Julia expresses her despair about never finding her soulmate. To attract potential suitors, she tries dancing in public, but her size proves to be a hindrance.

As she works at her father’s Greek diner, her dad, Frank, encourages her to seek love within their cultural community. Frank is amusingly portrayed as an African-American who suggests she consider a marriage to Nicky, a rather unattractive man. However, a twist of fate leads Julia to encounter the charmingly British Grant Fockyerdoder, played by Adam Campbell, and they share an immediate spark. In a comical mishap at the diner, Julia accidentally knocks Grant out with a coffee pot, only to find he disappears from their table.

Determined to find love, Julia visits a love therapist named Hitch. Although Hitch is hesitant at first, he agrees to assist her in transforming her image. As Julia undergoes a glamorous makeover, she secures a spot on a reality dating show, The Extreme Bachelor, where the bachelor turns out to be Grant, further complicating matters. On the show, Grant eliminates the contestants in a surreal style, reminding us that this world is anything but ordinary. Julia ultimately emerges victorious, earning a romantic dinner date with Grant at a restaurant aptly called “A Restaurant.”

Their relationship heats up, leading to a passionate night together. However, when Julia introduces Grant to her family, chaos ensues, especially when her family cat, Jinxers, disrupts their evening in a rather undignified manner. Tensions rise as they transport their families into each other’s lives, with comical blunders leading to misunderstandings. Notably, Grant’s mother, Roz, delivers shocking news about his past relationships, further complicating Julia’s emotions when her father insists she should consider Nicky as an option.

In a bizarre scene, a wedding planner named Jell-O suggests unconventional venues, which leads to more laughter and chaos during their wedding planning process. Julia’s confidence wavers, especially when she meets Andy, Grant’s former fiancée, played by Sophie Monk, leading to comical confrontations that have them squabbling like characters from Kill Bill.

As the wedding day approaches, Julia faces a humorous disaster—waking up with a giant pimple that sends her crashing through walls. As chaos unfolds, Andy seizes the moment to express her feelings for Grant, leaving Julia heartbroken and feeling betrayed. Despite this, true love triumphs when Julia’s father intervenes, realizing his daughter’s heart truly belongs to Grant.

In a whirlwind of hilarious antics and heartfelt moments, Julia rushes to the rooftop to find Grant, only to dramatically fall into his arms. With Hitch officiating, they finally tie the knot, while the side characters Andy and Nicky find unexpected love at the same event. As Grant and Julia embark on their honeymoon in a wacky setting reminiscent of fantasy, the film concludes with a comedic encounter involving King Kong and a woman in a leopard-print bikini, leaving the audience in splits and celebrating the madness of love.
