In the year 1760, the Collins family departs from Liverpool, embarking on a journey to establish a fishing port in Maine. They name their new home Collinsport, marking the beginning of their American endeavor.

As time passes in Collinsport, a young Barnabas becomes infatuated with Angelique Bouchard, the family's maid. However, his feelings aren't reciprocated, leading to devastating consequences.

After Barnabas confesses his lack of romantic feelings for Angelique, she retaliates by murdering his parents. This shocking act sets Barnabas on a path of heartbreak and vengeance.

Devastated by his parents' death, Barnabas finds solace in his love for Josette Du Pres. This tragic love story adds a layer of depth to his character, as he seeks happiness amidst turmoil.

In a fit of jealousy, Angelique casts a spell that drives Josette to leaping to her death from a cliff. This tragic event plunges Barnabas into despair, prompting him to follow her.

As Barnabas seeks to revitalize the family's fishery, he encounters Angelique again, now powerful and running her own successful business. She attempts to rekindle their past romance, but Barnabas's heart belongs to Victoria.

To restore the family's reputation, Barnabas hosts a grand party attended by Alice Cooper. However, he learns of Victoria's troubled past, which complicates their blossoming romance.

After discovering Dr. Hoffman’s betrayal, Barnabas kills her and hides her body in the sea. This act of violence further escalates tensions within the Collins family.

Angelique's anger escalates after Barnabas inadvertently reveals his identity to the children. She traps him in another coffin and incites the townsfolk against the Collins family.

Barnabas, aided by young David, escapes and confronts Angelique. A fierce battle ensues as the true nature of both Barnabas and Angelique is revealed to the mob.

In a dramatic finale, Barnabas races to save Victoria, who, under Angelique's spell, desires death. He bites her in a desperate attempt to awaken her as his eternal companion, solidifying their bond.
