What Happens in Dark Nuns: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Dark Nuns (2025) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

The film opens with a captivating sequence featuring a remarkably young character named Colos as he boldly navigates the challenges within the Jedi Temple. Here, Colos showcases his astonishing combat skills by skillfully battling several clone troops, displaying agility and prowess as he swiftly overpowers them. When he encounters Anakin Skywalker, Colos cleverly evades capture and makes a daring escape to a nearby hangar. Unfortunately, his freedom is short-lived, as a Venator Class Star Destroyer intercepts him, destroying his ship and forcing him to crash-land deep into the shadows of Coruscant's Underground.

In search of a refuge, Colos happens upon a bar called "Strikefast." However, his entrance triggers a violent confrontation with the bar's owner, transforming him into the unexpected new head of the establishment. Just when he feels he has secured a semblance of stability, the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett enters the scene, leading to a fierce battle where Colos is ultimately captured. He is taken aboard Darth Vader's formidable Imperial Star Destroyer, the Devastator.

While in custody and facing harsh interrogation by Officer Helac, Colos's situation appears dire. However, a dramatic twist occurs when Darth Vader himself arrives, directing Colos to the Emperor. With limited options, Colos reluctantly complies, but his determination is once again put to the test when he is brought before the Emperor. In a moment of ingenuity, Colos seizes the opportunity to escape, taking down multiple guards in a thrilling sequence.

Colos's journey soon leads him to the planet Centerpoint, where he dedicates years to establishing his own empire. However, his rise is met with a significant challenge two decades later when he confronts Darth Vader once again in a dense forest, where they engage in an intense and epic duel. Through clever negotiation, the two reach a consensus, enabling Colos to further strengthen his reign as one of the galaxy’s most formidable leaders.

Nevertheless, peace is fleeting as the emergence of Dark Guardian poses a grave threat. Dark Guardian, a fearsome adversary, aims to eliminate Colos and claim the title of the ultimate Sith. Colos now faces his most daunting ordeal as he battles against Dark Guardian’s formidable forces, which include notorious figures like Thrawn, Vader, and Dr. Doom. Despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him, Colos rises to the challenge, ultimately triumphing over Dark Guardian and solidifying his claim as the most dominant leader in the galaxy.

Ending explained

What Happens at the End of Dark Nuns?

Read the full ending explained

The film concludes with Sister Juniya making the ultimate sacrifice to banish the demon Gamigin that possessed young Hee-Joon. After learning the demon’s name through her interaction with it, Juniya takes the creature into her own sterile, cancer-ridden womb — a symbolic act that signifies her willingness to sacrifice her future, her ability to have children, and even her life in order to save the boy. As she does this, she is transported to the ocean, where she acknowledges Hee-Joon’s efforts with a gentle thank-you, knowing she’s about to die. Blood flowing down her leg signifies her physical sacrifice, as her body becomes the conduit for the demon’s destruction. In her final moments, Juniya dies in a fire that engulfs the building, her death serving as a powerful act of maternal devotion and selflessness. She hopes that her sacrifice will ensure the boy’s safety, instructing Michaela and Ae-Dong to take him to safety and ring the church bell three times so she can hear it and be reassured he is safe. Her death appears to destroy the demon and send it back to hell, symbolizing the triumph of compassion and sacrifice over evil.

The ending hints at broader conflicts still ahead in this universe, with the appearance of Deacon Choi at Juniya’s grave and Sister Michaela’s decision to follow him, suggesting that the battle with the evil spirits is far from over. The film leaves open the possibility of future stories in "The Priests" series, with the characters poised to confront the remaining demons and continue their fight against darkness, driven by the legacy of Juniya’s sacrifice. Ultimately, her act underscores the film’s themes of spiritual resilience, maternal love, and the enduring battle between good and evil.
