A disturbing discovery shocks the town as the brutalized body of Samiksha, a 15-year-old student, is found, setting off a chilling series of events. Arjan Sethi, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, is an ambitious filmmaker with a deep fascination for the darker aspects of human psychology. His dream is to create a movie exploring the minds of psychopaths. However, after facing several rejections from film producers and pressure from his family, he decides to take a different path, joining the Himachal Pradesh Police force as an SI. His entry into policing is facilitated by his brother-in-law, Narinder Singh, who is also a police officer. Despite holding a significant rank, Arjan is viewed as inexperienced, often treated like a rookie because of his lack of police experience.

Living with his sister Seema and her daughter Payal, Arjan finds himself navigating the challenges of both family and investigation. When Payal gets into trouble at school, he steps in by meeting her teacher, Divya, played by Rakul Preet Singh, pretending to be her father—a facade that is soon uncovered. During this time, Arjan also bonds with Divya’s hearing and speech-impaired niece, Iti, and develops a protective instinct towards her.

The plot thickens as Arjan investigates the mysterious disappearance of a schoolgirl named Amrita. He notices eerie similarities between her case and that of Samiksha, especially after finding mutilated dolls at Amrita’s home. Despite his efforts and evidence, his superiors, including SHO Gudiya Parmar played by Sargun Mehta, dismiss his suspicions. The situation worsens when Amrita’s mutilated body is found, confirming Arjan’s theories. Over the following days, another hearing-impaired girl, Komal, also from Divya’s school, is abducted and murdered. This series of crimes points Arjan towards a suspect linked to the victims’ shared backgrounds and circumstances.

The investigation leads him to Purushottam Tomar, a school teacher at Payal’s new school, who is revealed to be a pedophile forcing girls into sexual acts. Payal narrowly escapes an attack, thanks to Arjan’s quick actions, and when he confronts Tomar, a tense scene ensues where Arjan fires his firearm in the heat of the moment. Tomar admits to his sexual misconduct but vehemently denies the murders. During the arrest attempt, Tomar grabs Parmar at gunpoint, forcing Arjan to shoot him, ending his reign of terror.

Tragedy strikes again when Payal is kidnapped from her birthday celebration. Her body is later found in the trunk of a car, intensifying Arjan’s grief and frustration. His own mistake in the shooting incident leads to his suspension from the force, leaving him disillusioned with the system. Despite this setback, he continues his own investigation clandestinely, with the help of supportive colleagues like Head Constable Mahinder Guleria. His breakthrough comes when he finds an audio recording from Komal’s hearing aid, leading him to Agnes, a mysterious magician and pianist performing at the victims’ schools. Arjan deduces that Agnes is selecting her victims by calling them onto the stage and then killing them shortly after, with Aisha being her latest target.

Despite attempts to warn Aisha, she is abducted, prompting Arjan and his team to intensify their surveillance. They succeed in rescuing Aisha, but Agnes manages to escape and later targets Divya and her niece Iti. The hunt culminates in Arjan tracking Agnes to an abandoned building where he uncovers a shocking truth: Agnes is actually a man. His real name is Christopher, the son of Agnes, who was arrested years earlier for killing a young girl. Christopher suffers from progeria and was bullied as a child. His obsession with his childhood love, Sofia, played by Saina Anarose, drove him to commit heinous acts. When Sofia humiliated him after he confessed his love, Agnes lured her to his home, where Christopher murdered her with Agnes’s help. Agnes took the blame initially but died, leading Christopher to adopt her persona to continue his killings, targeting girls who resembled Sofia.

A fierce confrontation ensues, where Arjan, with crucial help from Iti, manages to overpower Christopher. Divya arrives during the climax to assist, and together, they ensure that Christopher is brought to justice. As the case concludes, Arjan walks away from the aftermath, forever changed by the dark truths uncovered and the horrifying motivations behind the killers’ actions. His journey reveals the depths of human depravity, highlighting how unresolved childhood trauma and psychological scars can manifest in the most frightening ways.
