Charlie McFadden, played by Don Keith Opper, finds himself on the verge of annihilating the last two eggs of the notorious Critter species. This tense moment unfolds inside the tunnels of an abandoned spaceship when he receives an unexpected notification from his belt, informing him that bio-preservation laws prohibit the extermination of any life form, even those as troublesome as Critters. A containment unit materializes, forcing Charlie to reluctantly place the eggs inside separate compartments. Just as he completes his task, he becomes ensnared within the container, which seals shut and causes him to be cryogenically frozen along with the eggs.

Fast forward 32 years later, and the container is discovered by a ragtag crew of private space salvage operators. Captain Richard Brapton, portrayed by Anders Hove, has grand plans to cash in on their find, yet Fran, played by Angela Bassett, opposes any such scheme. They recover the container to investigate its origins and contents, soon uncovering a message from Terracor, promising a reward for its safe return. However, Counselor Tetra, played by Terrence Mann, advises them to steer clear of the mysterious cargo.

Despite warnings, Rick pushes to enter the container, where they are greeted by the onboard computer’s voice, Angela, voiced by Martine Beswick. Despite her cryptic guidance, the group learns that the container houses a nuclear core, though curiously, it emits no radiation. Following an uninvited incident, where Rick’s intrusive behavior leads to a physical confrontation with Fran, chaos ensues as he inadvertently disrupts Angela’s operations. Brad Dourif, as Al Bert, falsely secures all-level clearance, creating a rising tide of tension as Rick soon discovers a confused Charlie inside the container.

As the Critters hatch and wreak havoc, Charlie’s attempts to combat them prove futile. Joined by the youngest crew member, Ethan, played by Paul Whitthorne, Charlie must navigate a refuge of danger. They stumble into a functioning laboratory, only for Charlie to mysteriously disappear, prompting Ethan to follow him through the perilous waste disposal system. Unbeknownst to them, the aggressive Critters are multiplying and now pose more significant threats than ever before.

In a gripping sequence of interactions, the crew learns chilling details from a recorded message by Dr. McCormick, portrayed by Anne Ramsay, revealing bizarre experiments aimed at creating more aggressive life forms. As tension mounts aboard the ship, Bernie, played by Eric DaRe, meets a grim fate at the claws of the evolved Critters, now formidable in size.

Ultimately, chaos reigns as Fran, Charlie, Ethan, and Al rush to the ship’s nuclear core while the Critters commandeer the vessel. In a desperate attempt to survive, they stumble upon task upon task, with Charlie taking drastic action that compromises the ship’s controls. The events escalate to a frenzied climax when Terracor operatives, led by Ug, also portrayed by Terrence Mann, arrive on the scene. Ethan, clever and resourceful, manages to outsmart Ug’s men, fighting bravely to pivot the situation in their favor.

As the echoes of gunfire culminate in a thrilling showdown, alliances are forged, betrayals unveiled, and unexpected bravery shines through. In a heated confrontation, characters brave and bold rise to the occasion, with Charlie ultimately taking charge and asserting his leadership for their escape.

Finally, as they narrowly avoid catastrophe and propel themselves towards freedom, the screen fades to a chaotic backdrop of stars. Amid the credits rolls, a cheeky postscript assures viewers, Absolutely no critters were harmed in the making of this motion picture, punctuated by the faint sound of a Critter’s hauntingly gleeful laughter fading into the void.
