Inside an abandoned spaceship, Charlie McFadden finds himself on the brink of exterminating the last two eggs of the Critter species. However, a notification from his belt interrupts him, revealing bio-preservation laws that protect even the most troublesome life forms.

A containment unit appears and forces Charlie to place the eggs into separate compartments. Just as he completes this task, unexpected misfortune strikes as he becomes ensnared within the container.

The containment unit seals shut, resulting in Charlie being cryogenically frozen along with the precious Critter eggs. This unforeseen event sets the stage for future chaos 32 years down the line.

After three decades, a ragtag crew of private space salvage operators discovers the long-lost containment unit. Captain Richard Brapton dreams of cashing in on their find, yet Fran, one of the crew members, warns against such schemes.
