Richland arrives at a secluded government facility located on a remote island. Accompanied by Peniston, he is briefed by head scientist Dr. Bishop on groundbreaking experiments conducted at the facility.

Dr. Bishop presents several unusual hybrids, including a shark-dolphin hybrid that can adapt to various environments. Among the showcased projects is a terrifying human-shark hybrid known as 'the Creature', igniting concerns about its potential dangers.

Chaos ensues when the Creature escapes from its enclosure and fatally wounds Dr. Bishop. In a panic, Richland orders the elimination of the creature, but Peniston chooses to confine it instead, ultimately discarding it into the ocean.

The story jumps forward 25 years, where Dr. Chase, a marine biologist, along with his assistant Tall Man, embarks on a mission that leads them to a pregnant female Great White Shark trapped in fishing nets. They manage to liberate the shark without realizing the danger posed by the creature.

Local fisherman Puckett discovers the discarded containment unit, inadvertently releasing the monstrous creature back into the waters. Tragedy strikes soon after when the creature attacks and kills Ben Mediera, a local fisherman.

Dr. Chase reunites with Dr. Macy, her sea lion Robin, and his son Max at the airport. They prepare for an ocean expedition but Max's adventure takes a turn as he meets local youths, including the chief's daughter Elizabeth.

After the death of Mediera, police Chief Gibson seeks Dr. Chase's expertise to investigate the incident. Despite evidence suggesting a threat, Chase argues against pursuing the Great White, citing it as innocent.

Now known as 'Werewolf' by the locals due to his erratic behavior, Peniston realizes that Mediera's death was not caused by the Great White after witnessing the empty containment unit. He begins to understand the extent of the danger they face.

Dr. Chase and Dr. Macy return to the old research facility, where they explain their work on sharks’ immunity to cancer. The issue is personal for Chase, stemming from the tragic death of his best friend in an unrelated incident.

As local youth engage in reckless cliff jumping, they remain oblivious to the creature lurking below the surface. Tensions rise as Kimo, one of the boys, is tragically lost to the creature.

Upon finding Kimo's body, Chief Gibson dismisses Dr. Chase's warnings about the creature, leading to an aggressive hunt for the Great White. His fury escalates as the community turns against Chase and Dr. Macy.

Determined to confront the real threat, Dr. Chase, Dr. Macy, Max, and Tall Man prepare for another encounter with the creature. However, their encounter turns perilous as the creature viciously attacks their boat.

Despite Puckett's successful kill of the Great White, Dr. Chase warns the community that the true creature still poses a significant threat. His unwillingness to back down leads to a clash of wills against Richland's contradictory orders.

As Richland arrives to enforce caution, Dr. Chase chooses to defy his orders by facing the creature directly. They soon discover that the creature can be lured using sound, making it a cunning adversary.

A chaotic climax unfolds as the team attempts to contain the creature using sound to lure it in. In the end, resourcefulness and sacrifice lead to an explosive confrontation, dismantling the creature and ensuring their survival.
