Based on Nuremberg trial records of chemical giant IG Farben, the film portrays the collusion between multinational corporations and Nazi scientists whose research enabled mass murder. Chemist Dr. Hans Scholz undergoes a turbulent political awakening, feigning neutrality while the poison from his plant fuels extermination camps. At the trials he confronts his complicity in the millions killed in gas chambers.
