Conspiracy of the Doomed

In the immediate post-liberation period, power is unsettled and a cabal begins to form around the U.S. ambassador Mac-Hill. He recruits Kristina Padera, Hugo Vastis, Joachim Pino, Cardinal Birnch, and Kyra Rachel to steer events from behind the scenes. Their goal is to subvert sovereignty while presenting themselves as guardians of stability.

Mac-Hill and Padera orchestrate an economic blockade designed to look humanitarian while starving the state into dependence. They blame the Soviet Union for the crisis and cloak their aid in charity to mask U.S. involvement. The ploy tests the government's resolve and sows doubt about the new regime.

Secret negotiations with the Yugoslav government aim to intensify the blockade and tighten external leverage over the country. Talks in Belgrade establish arrangements that help fund the blockade and coordinate pressure. The clandestine diplomacy deepens foreign interference at the heart of the crisis.

In Parliament, the vote on the Marshall Plan exposes a sharp political rift. Nationalists, the Catholic Party, and right-leaning Social Democrats back the plan, while Communists, agrarians, and left-wing Social Democrats oppose it.
