Conjurer

Shawn Burnett and his wife Helen relocate to a rural property in hopes of healing after the loss of their child. They move into an older house that sits beside a decrepit cabin in the backyard, adjusting to promise versus decay.

Frank Higgins promises to build them a brand-new house, but they must first live in the old home. Shawn resents taking charity, yet he stays for Helen's sake and to maintain some stability for their future.

Shortly after settling in, Helen becomes pregnant again, giving them renewed hope. The couple clings to this possibility as they navigate grief and the challenges of a difficult move.

Neighbors recount a legend about a witch who curses would-be parents and seeks revenge on husbands who harmed children. Shawn becomes fascinated by the tale and begins investigating the cabin's haunting.

While exploring, Shawn injures himself on a tooth left in the cabin and develops a severe infection. As the illness worsens, he experiences troubling visions and sensations that blur the line between reality and delirium.

Shawn worries that either the witch's curse or his own possible mental illness could threaten Helen. He decides to get Helen out of the house, while Frank believes the land is safe and resists leaving.

As Shawn's condition worsens, the strange events around the house escalate, making it hard to tell what is real. Helen remains supportive, but the mounting anomalies strain their relationship and trust.

A confrontation escalates into a chase, culminating in Shawn firing a gun toward Helen during a dangerous encounter. The couple's attempt to escape is interrupted by the alarming violence.

Authorities arrive and Shawn tries to tell them about the witch, only to be told there is no witch and that the neighbors who told him the story never existed. The denial shatters his grip on reality and deepens the sense of danger.

Shawn is taken to a mental institution while Helen remains to live in the house alone. The separation highlights the collapse of their family and the ambiguity of what really happened.

The ending features Helen listening to a phone message from Shawn, then turning to the camera with a malevolent look. The film leaves it unclear whether the events were produced by Shawn's psyche or by a surviving witch's influence.
