He Qiwu, known as Cop 223, experiences heartbreak when he breaks up with his girlfriend May on April 1st. The choice of this day underscores the playful yet painful twist of fate in their relationship.

Following the breakup, Qiwu resolves to wait a full month until his birthday to either move on from May or potentially rekindle their romance. Each day he buys a tin of pineapple set to expire on May 1st, symbolizing his hopes and fears.

On his birthday, May 1st, Qiwu decides to seek connection at a bar called the Bottoms Up Club. He meets a mysterious woman in a blonde wig, but she is too exhausted to engage and ends up falling asleep in a hotel room, leaving Qiwu alone.

The woman in the blonde wig confronts a drug baron, Thom Baker, who had betrayed her during a smuggling operation. This dangerous encounter highlights the perilous world in which she is entangled.

While jogging through the city, Qiwu receives a unexpected birthday message on his pager from the woman he met at the bar. This prompts him to visit his favorite snack shop, setting in motion a series of surprising encounters.

In the second narrative, we meet Cop 663, who is coping with his own heartbreak after a recent breakup with flight attendant Valerie Chow. His emotional state sets the stage for a new romantic storyline.

Faye, a new employee at the snack bar, enters Cop 663's life. Her immediate affection for him is evident as she makes small gestures to support him through his heartbreak.

Faye returns to Hong Kong and discovers that Cop 663 has purchased the snack bar where they met. His intentions to turn it into a restaurant symbolize his growth and hope for the future.
