A wandering cowboy drifts into a small frontier town at Christmas. After he can’t pay for a meal, the café owner has him jailed. The townspeople, ashamed of their neglect toward a Mexican family living on nearby Christmas Mountain with a pregnant woman, free the cowboy and send him with supplies. The family’s young son prays for help; an apparition of the cowboy’s deceased friend appears, urging him to change his ways and warning the townsfolk that their token charity is insufficient.
