During World War I, horse trader Cheyenne “Harry” refuses to sell his beloved mount Cactus. Desperate and drunk, he sells the horse for $350, then loses the money gambling. Learning Cactus will be shipped to France for the front, Harry secures a horse‑tending job on the vessel, escapes with Cactus by jumping overboard, swims to shore, is captured, and is allowed to work off his debt and keep his faithful friend.
