Charlotte's Web

John Arable attempts to slaughter a runt piglet, but his compassionate daughter Fern intervenes, pleading for the piglet's life. John ultimately concedes and gives the piglet to Fern, who names him Wilbur and raises him as a beloved pet.

As Wilbur grows larger, John Arable decides he can no longer keep him. Fern is heartbroken when Wilbur is sold to her uncle, Homer Zuckerman, but she is allowed to visit him periodically, hoping to maintain their bond.

Upon arriving at Zuckerman’s barn, Wilbur yearns for Fern and feels lonely among the other farm animals, who have varied reactions to his presence. The head ram scorns him, while a motherly goose provides comfort during his difficult adjustment.

Wilbur learns from the ram that he is being raised for slaughter, plunging him into despair. He mourns his fate until a wise barn spider named Charlotte comforts him, promising to find a way to save his life.

Throughout the summer, Charlotte devises a plan to save Wilbur by making him famous. She starts by weaving the words 'Some Pig' into her web, which creates a buzz around Wilbur, turning him into a local celebrity.

The web with the words 'Some Pig' attracts many visitors to the barn, who perceive it as a miracle. This newfound fame delays Wilbur's fate, but when the excitement fades, the web gets destroyed.

Charlotte continues her efforts to save Wilbur by weaving new words into her web, including 'Terrific' and 'Radiant.' However, despite Wilbur's growing fame, Zuckerman's desire to slaughter him remains unchanged.

Zuckerman enters Wilbur into the county fair, bringing along Charlotte and Templeton the rat. Meanwhile, Fern, who once cherished Wilbur, has matured and spends time with her childhood sweetheart rather than at the fair with Wilbur.

At the fair, Charlotte weaves the word 'Humble' into her web as Wilbur is evaluated. Although he doesn’t win first prize, he receives a special award, ensuring Zuckerman will value him and spare his life.

Charlotte, who has laid her egg sac at the fair, realizes her life is nearing its end and chooses to stay behind. She sends Wilbur and Templeton back to the barn with her egg sac, satisfied that she has saved Wilbur's life.

During the winter, Charlotte's eggs hatch, bringing several spiderlings into Wilbur's life. Though most of them fly away, three stay behind to keep him company, but Wilbur finds himself always remembering Charlotte fondly.

As time passes, the descendants of Charlotte care for Wilbur, providing him with companionship. Nevertheless, none of them can ever replace Charlotte, who Wilbur holds in the highest regard.
