Something strange has been spotted over the treetops of the forest where Charlie Strapp and Froggy Ball live, and Tin-Can Harry quickly builds binoculars to take a closer look. What at first appears to be nothing more than a strange light turns out to be an emergency signal. United by curiosity and a sense of adventure, the two friends team up with Tin-Can Harry and Polly the Parrot to embark on a rescue mission to reach whoever is sending the message. Their journey leads them to the pine cone people, a community of forest dwellers who welcome them with open arms. There, they befriend the regal King Cone, the stern but fair Queen Cone, and the impulsive young Princess Cone Green, a cone with a bold streak who adds a spark of mischief to the group.
From the moment they meet the Cone people, it becomes clear that the signal is tied to the forest’s fate. The Cone community has been teetering on the edge of danger, and the team soon learns that the real threat comes from above: a helicopter lands on a high limb, revealing three evil businessmen from the company Tonto-Turbo. Their plan is nothing short of devastating—they intend to tear down a large portion of the forest to clear land for a hyper-modern luxury hotel, a project that would erase much of the natural world and replace it with glass and chrome. The moment the businessmen depart, Connie, a determined ally of the Cone family, ends up aboard the helicopter, pulling the team into a new spiral of danger.
Charlie Strapp and Froggy Ball cling to the helicopter’s landing skids as it lifts off, managing to survive a perilous fall into a lake below thanks to clever improvisation: Charlie’s tailcoat becomes a makeshift parachute, and Froggy Ball learns how to steer by pulling the tails, allowing them to land safely on a moving steamboat. Reunited with Tin-Can Harry and Polly aboard the vessel, the group sails toward Mariefred, where a new chapter of the adventure unfolds. Their pursuit leads them to Gripsholm Castle, the heart of the enemies’ plan, where the conspirators intend to hack authorities’ computers to shift power and real estate in their favor. Connie, who had briefly hidden in a briefcase, attempts to seize the critical floppy disk but fails. The fugitives end up trapped at the bottom of the castle’s well, only to be rescued moments later by Tin-Can Harry’s timely intervention.
Meanwhile, the men from Tonto-Turbo depart again by helicopter, and Tin-Can Harry deduces that their next stop is the Ericsson Globe. Back in the city, Charlie Strapp and Froggy Ball approach the iconic venue, only to be dismissed with laughter and skepticism by those inside. The schemers’ plans take another twist when they attend a Nobel Prize party, leaving Charlie and Froggy Ball to puzzle out which floppy disk is the real one. A misstep sends Froggy Ball into a computer game where Charlie must guide him with a joystick, turning a tense moment into a narrow escape. Just as one of the men retrieves the disk, a submarine surfaces, and Tin-Can Harry, Connie, and the Cone forest crew reappear, slipping into the party by hiding inside a dessert—an ice cream parade that doubles as a clever disguise.
Inside the celebration, Froggy Ball delivers a public speech that exposes the men from Tonto-Turbo, triggering chaos and a desperate chase. Phil the Fox, who had a brief cameo earlier, makes a dramatic entrance and stirs things up, diverting attention from the fleeing allies. In the ensuing confusion, Connie seizes the wrong disk, but the moment of triumph is not far behind: the disk is recovered, and an army of cone warriors arrives to drive the villains into the water, where the Parrot accidentally releases the disk into the waves. Triumphant but exhausted, the climactic pursuit ends back in the cone forest, where the brave frog receives a prize from the Cone Minister of Flower Pots. The film closes with the businessmen finding a new, unlikely vocation—shepherding sheep—which, to everyone’s surprise, they seem to enjoy.
Throughout this tale, the forest’s resilience, the courage of unlikely heroes, and the power of community to stand up to greed are celebrated in a violin of whimsy and adventure. The characters’ journeys intertwine humor, danger, and heart, painting a vivid picture of a world where nature, friendship, and imagination persevere even when faced with a glossy, modern threat.
