The movie “Cats” concludes with Victoria, the soft-hearted White Cat, taking center stage as the hero. She begins her journey as a former house cat who was abandoned but joins the Jellicle Tribe, where each year, one cat is chosen to ascend to the Heaviside Layer — a mystical place symbolizing rebirth or the next stage of existence. This year, several candidates are vying for the Jellicle Choice, including older, beloved cats and more eccentric characters. The antagonist Macavity, portrayed as a sinister villain in the film, kidnaps multiple candidates, attempting to manipulate Old Deuteronomy into selecting him instead. Fortunately, Mr. Mistoffelees rescues the kidnapped cats, clearing the way for the final selection.

In a poignant moment, Grizabella, an aging cat once admired for her beauty, is finally chosen after singing the haunting song “Memory.” Her journey to the Heaviside Layer is depicted as her ascending into the sky inside a chandelier attached to a hot air balloon, symbolizing her rebirth.
