Casual Sex?

Stacy Lea Thompson has a promiscuous past and, after learning of the AIDS epidemic, wants to find a man who is “clean.” She convinces her considerably more prudish childhood friend Melissa Victoria Jackson to go to The Oasis, a health spa resort for singles, so they can each hope to find the person of their dreams. At the spa, Stacy meets Nick [Stephen Shellen], a struggling musician, and also encounters Vinny [Andrew Dice Clay], an annoying Italian-American from New Jersey whom she tries to avoid.

At the resort’s International Night themed party, Stacy becomes Vinny’s date for the evening. She patiently navigates his advances and the night until he walks her to her door. Meanwhile, Melissa meets Matthew, a psychologist, at the party. Melissa also forms a connection with Jamie, a spa staff member who shows interest in her.

At the next evening party, Nick sings a song for Stacy and kisses her, which upsets Vinny. Matthew and Melissa share a moment, but Matthew abruptly stops, saying he is not attracted to her. Melissa returns to her room and overhears Stacy and Nick having sex. Disappointed, Melissa leaves a note and misses the 8 o’clock bus to L.A. Jamie finds Melissa at the bus stop and convinces her to return to the spa.

Stacy receives the note, worries about Melissa, and wishes to return home. Nick insists on going with her. Stacy offers him a place to stay so he can pursue a music career in L.A. They hastily catch the 2 o’clock bus, not knowing Melissa stayed behind.

Stacy soon realizes she does not truly like Nick or see him as the man she thought he was. Learning that Melissa has returned and never left, she rents a pink Cadillac and drives back, only to catch Melissa in bed with Jamie. Melissa explains how she and Jamie have connected, and how she had her first orgasm. Stacy is relieved that Melissa is enjoying herself and thrilled that Melissa and Jamie have found each other.

Stacy then tells Melissa that the Nick chapter is over and ends things with him. Leaving the resort, she encounters Vinny waiting with his luggage. He asks for a ride to the nearest bus station, and she agrees. Vinny opens up and explains, in plain terms, how he struggles to understand dating and relationships. Stacy is moved and sees him in a new light.

Back home in New Jersey, Stacy ends things with Nick. Vinny’s perspective shifts, and he writes a letter to Stacy describing a more mature version of himself.

Six months later, Stacy visits Melissa and Jamie (who are now living together) on New Year’s Eve. As the night ends, she walks home and finds Vinny arriving in a limousine, having driven from New Jersey to California just to see her. She is surprised but offers breakfast. He gifts her a Golden Retriever puppy as a Christmas gift.

Six years pass, and Melissa and Jamie visit Stacy’s house for Christmas. Stacy and Vinny are now married with two boys and a grown dog. As Vinny greets Jamie and the boys, Stacy and Melissa share a warm moment, recognizing how far each of them has come.
