Case of Kondana

In the suburb of Kondana, in South India, a tense story unfolds where duty clashes with desperation and a chain of deadly choices begins to unravel. The narrative follows Wilson, a newly recruited police officer who bribed his way into the force but truly wants to serve with integrity. He still owes part of the bribe to his contact, and the weight of that debt hangs over his head as he tries to stay on the right side of the law. At the same station, Lakshmi, the ACP, leads a grim investigation into a series of gruesome serial killings that have shocked the nation and unsettled even seasoned officers. The brutality of the murders hits close to home for her, especially a case that left a young girl orphaned and vulnerable.

Across Kondana, a different fight unfolds for the poor. Raju, a North Indian street food vendor, struggles to keep his family afloat as his young son battles a life-threatening illness. The medical bill—Rs. 500,000—looms large, and Raju scrambles to borrow whatever he can, hoping a miracle will arrive before it’s too late. The police soon identify the killer behind the carnage as a feared gangster named Selvan. During a raid, Selvan appears ready to surrender, but Lakshmi shoots him dead in a moment that stirs a dangerous second wave of consequences. Selvan’s brother swears vengeance, vowing to wipe out those who killed his sibling, and the threat of retaliation hangs over the investigation.

Meanwhile, the financial crisis tightens its grip on Raju. One night, as he works at his stall and his son’s health deteriorates, Wilson—a man who now holds the bribe money—has a minor accident nearby and sits with his wounds at the stall to rest. Raju notices the large sum of cash in Wilson’s possession and, in a desperate bid to save his son, decides to seize the money. Wilson quickly confronts him; even when caught, Raju refuses to return the money, leading to a brutal struggle in which Wilson unintentionally kills Raju.

A patrol car rolls by, and officers Tyagaraj and his partner arrive to investigate. The officers don’t recognize Wilson, who has crafted a convincing cover, and they depart. But Tyagaraj, sensing that something isn’t right, turns back and begins to unravel the scene. Wilson, realizing he left loose ends, heads back to retrieve Raju’s body. On the way, Subhash, Wilson’s colleague, spots him and asks for a lift. Wilson reluctantly agrees, and Subhash notices blood in the car and recalls seeing Wilson in an anxious state with a large petrol tank in the back. Suspicion grows, and he follows them.

Wilson reaches a remote field, unaware he is being tailed by both Tyagaraj and Subhash. As Wilson prepares to burn Raju’s body, Subhash intervenes and Wilson confesses everything. Subhash agrees to keep the confession secret, but Tyagaraj and his partner reveal themselves and confront the two men. A tense confrontation ensues, and tempers flare into a struggle. The confrontation spills into a crisis when Wilson’s petrol tank is knocked over; a gun is drawn, and a shot ignites the spilled fuel, setting a fire that kills Subhash, Tyagaraj, and his partner. Wilson survives by staying farther from the blaze, and he flees the scene.

Back at the hospital, Raju’s wife arrives alone with their son, having been unable to locate Raju at the stall. Tragically, they lose him to the illness after the delay. The police quickly learn of the officers’ deaths and the vendor’s murder, and Lakshmi is enraged. She vows to hunt down the perpetrator in the same spot, in the same way—no matter how closely he is hidden. The investigation swings into a high gear, and Wilson uses every trick in the book to cover his tracks: erasing CCTV footage, destroying evidence, and tampering with Raju’s autopsy report to prevent identification.

Eventually, the police locate Raju’s wife. Her account appears to contradict the autopsy, and Lakshmi grows increasingly suspicious. A deeper dive into Wilson’s phone history reveals he was at the field, confirming his presence at the crime scene. With other accumulating clues, she confirms that Wilson is the killer, and guilt gnaws at him, especially when he learns his son’s death

despite the delay weighs heavily on him. After a profound period of inner conflict and with his life and the lives of others on the line, Wilson decides to surrender.

Lakshmi orders him brought to the field where the others died, intending to give him justice. As he pleads to confess, a new attack erupts: Selvan’s brother and his gang launch a fierce assault. The ensuing battle turns brutal, leaving Lakshmi wounded and the field deadly. Wilson, rallying a last surge of resolve, fights back against the attackers, killing the remaining members and saving Lakshmi from a deadly fate.

In the end, the film closes on a stark note: Wilson is taken away to jail, his hands tied by the consequences of his choices and the weight of the lives affected by his actions. The story remains a stark meditation on duty, guilt, and the ways in which one person’s decisions can ripple through an entire city.
