Tracy [Katy Woodruff] is a camp counselor who is determined to close Camp Placid Pines for the winter, a task that pits her against the other staff and the creeping sense that something ancient haunts the woods. The group includes Sofie [Amanda Magarian], Mike [Kelly Gunning], Angela [Tiffany Shepis], Elvis [Raymond Novarro Smith], Ryan [Tom Mullen], James [Lane Anderson], and their boss Rick [Arthur Benjamin]. As night falls, a bonfire becomes the backdrop for a chilling game of Bloody Murder, and Tracy is unsettled by the mood around the flames. When Angela suggests the game, Tracy pulls away with Mike, while Sofie hints at a darker past—the disappearance of Tracy’s brother, Jason, years earlier, supposedly tied to the camp’s local myth, Trevor Moorehouse. Tracy’s departure with Mike leads to a rift, and the others press on with the story of Trevor Moorehouse, a traumatic figure said to have met an awful fate at Camp Placid Pines years ago and institutionalized after a violent accident.

James is chosen to be it. He is blindfolded as the others scatter through the forest to hide, the thrill of the game turning uneasy as fear bleeds into laughter. The prank crescendos into forceful scare tactics when Mike and Ryan dress as Trevor Moorehouse to frighten James, sparking a real fight that unsettles everyone. When the group returns to their cabins, James stays by the fire—only to be confronted by a figure dressed as Trevor Moorehouse. In a brutal moment, the attacker slices his legs with a machete and then crushes his skull with a heavy rock, leaving the camp in shocked silence and a chilling sense that the myth may be more real than anyone admitted.

The next morning arrives with a tense peace as Tracy and Mike manage a fragile reconciliation. At breakfast in the mess hall, Rick is livid, announcing that James left a note saying he abandoned the camp. The camp cook, Juanita [Virginia Mendoza], becomes visibly frightened, deciding she will leave later that day. Sofie and Elvis discuss the possibility that Trevor Moorehouse might not be just a legend, while Angela and Ryan share a private moment in the showers. When Ryan receives a pager message from Rick asking to see him, Ryan heads off, only to stumble upon a freshly dug grave in the forest and be shot with an arrow before the killer buries him.

Tracy spots the killer skulking in the trees and enlists Mike, Sofie, and Elvis to help. Sheriff Miller is called, but his skepticism about the campers’ claims makes the night feel colder and more dangerous. As darkness falls again, Tracy and Mike drift apart once more, while Rick insists that Ryan had quit, further muddying the truth. Angela slips away in distress, and Tracy grows increasingly convinced that something sinister is afoot at the camp. The trio—Tracy, Sofie, and Elvis—decide they must locate Mike and Angela to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Mike consoles Angela, and their moment grows intimate, drawing attention from Elvis, who returns to report that he could not locate them. When he checks back, he discovers Ryan’s body partially buried in the ground, and Mike disappears, leaving Tracy worried that the truth about what is happening will stay buried with him. The remaining staff are brought back to the camp by Sheriff Miller, who confirms they cannot leave as they are now suspects in Ryan’s death. He spearheads a search for Rick and Mike, while Deputy Tim and Deputy Carver handle the others, though chaos erupts when the deputies are knocked unconscious and Elvis is killed—his throat slit by the killer.

Rick returns with the latest lead, but suspicion quickly centers on the missing Mike, whose cabin bears a disturbing mask. Tracy finds a camcorder outside Mike’s cabin and plays back footage that seems to capture Mike entering the house just before the killer appears. Mike then materializes in the footage, but he escapes and is quickly captured and hauled to prison, leaving Tracy and the others rattled by the possibility of a double-cross.

That night, Sofie comforts a frightened Tracy before Tracy dreams of the killer revealing himself as Rick. In the morning, the trio—Tracy, Sofie, and Angela—doubt Mike’s guilt and decide to search for Ryan’s and Rick’s pagers to verify the truth behind the missing messages. At the police station, Mike claims his innocence and argues that someone tampered with the recordings. Back at camp, Tracy checks Rick’s pager and finds that there is no page from Ryan, deepening the mystery. Sofie prepares a quiet dinner to keep Rick from suspecting the truth, while Tracy re-examines the recordings and discovers altered footage again.

Angela heads off to search for Ryan’s pager, but the killer strikes and knocks her down with a machete, killing her. The remaining trio rallies, with Tracy warning Sofie as they set out to confront the growing tension. Sofie tracks down Angela’s body, while Tracy uses the moment to reach Sheriff Miller by phone to report what is happening. Sheriff Miller arrives, confronts Rick, and shoots him dead, hoping to end the nightmare once and for all. But in a brutal turn, Sheriff Miller reveals himself as the killer, confessing that his crime was driven by revenge for what happened to his son, Trevor Moorehouse. The moment is interrupted when Trevor Moorehouse himself appears and decapitates the Sheriff with a chainsaw, dragging his corpse away as a final ghastly symbol of the camp’s cursed history.

In the aftermath, Tracy discovers Mike’s body in the back seat, the car’s interior a grim tableau. Sheriff Miller’s body is left to hang as Sofie tries to steady Tracy, and the two manage to escape the collapsing night and head back into the woods. The cops’ pursuit ends with chaos as Trevor Moorehouse returns to unleash one last horror, and the two survivors, battered but determined, fall asleep beneath the pines and eventually walk away together at dawn, the camp’s shadows receding as a new day begins.
