Blood and Wine

Alex Gates, a debt-ridden Miami wine merchant, has grown distant from his wife Suzanne and from his stepson Jason. Facing mounting debt, he hatches a plan to steal a valuable necklace from the Reese family's house, where his Cuban mistress Gabriela works. The scheme is shadowed by lies, double lives, and the risk of exposure.

During a wine delivery, Alex and Jason case the Reese residence, hoping to slip inside unnoticed. Gabriela was supposed to open the door, but she has been fired the day before. A trusted security guard is coaxed into letting them in, and Victor, a British safe-cracker, is brought in as the inside man.

On the day of the heist, Alex and Victor arrive under the pretense that the Reese wine cellar needs repairs. Victor sets to work on the safe while a second guard grows suspicious, but the job is completed before discovery. The plan seems to be going smoothly as they leave with the necklace.

Suzanne discovers airline tickets and realizes Alex is cheating again. A heated confrontation ends with her knocking him out and clearing his suitcase, where the necklace is hidden, before she heads for the Florida Keys. She drags Jason along as she flees, starting a new life away from Miami.

Jason has the necklace appraised and learns it is worth $1 million. He visits Gabriela back in Miami, passing along the address of their hideout to keep their arrangement alive. The revelation raises the stakes for both.

Alex and Victor track down Henry, a friend of Jason, hoping to locate his whereabouts. Victor assaults Henry to force information, but Henry refuses to talk. They keep contacting jewelers and checking the appraiser's reports for any sign of the necklace.

In Key Largo, Victor pretends to flirt with Suzanne to draw her out, while Jason studies the attacker’s description. A confrontation follows, culminating in a car chase that ends with a crash that kills Suzanne.

Jason returns to Miami to confront his stepfather, but he finds Gabriela in his bed; after a brief argument, they reconcile. The renewed relationship complicates loyalties as the net tightens around the necklace.

Back in Miami, Victor tracks Jason to Alex's house and attacks him; Jason tricks Victor into thinking the necklace has been returned to Alex. Victor attacks, collapses from exhaustion, and Alex smothers him to death.

That night, Jason shows the necklace to Gabriela and confesses that he used a single stone to help buy a cabin cruiser from Henry. The confession heightens the danger as both must steer through competing interests.

The next day, Gabriela calls Alex and they head to Jason's boat to search for the necklace; Jason, anticipating this, confronts them and a tense fight ensues. The pursuit escalates as loyalties fracture and the boat becomes a trap.

Gabriela, who had fled with the necklace earlier, returns and leaves it with Alex, insisting that she doesn't want it but pockets one diamond before she leaves. The moral lines blur as trust erodes and the heist's motive shifts from money to survival.

On the final confrontation on the boat, Jason crushes Alex between the boat and the dock and flees the scene. Alex, desperate to cover his tracks, disposes of the necklace by throwing it into the ocean. Unbeknownst to him, Jason has hidden an incriminating photo in a travel bag that the police will search. The film ends with Jason alone on the boat, sailing into the setting sun.
