Black Water

Grace, Adam, and Lee arrive for a vacation and decide to attend a local crocodile show. The outing establishes the family dynamics before the danger begins.

Grace takes a pregnancy test the next day and learns she is pregnant. She chooses not to tell Adam yet, keeping the news to herself.

They head to Black Water Barry's fishing tour, hoping to ride into the mangrove swamp to fish. Jim offers to guide them since Barry is unavailable, and he arms himself with a revolver.

Jim takes the group away from the docks toward the swamp. The group prepares for the journey, with Jim's weapon in view as tension rises.

They fail to catch any fish on the usual route, so Jim suggests going deeper into the swamp. The promise of a new spot prompts the riskier expedition.

Lee spots something through her camera in a small clearing and alerts Grace. When they inspect, they find nothing, leaving a sense of unease about what they saw.

Suddenly the boat capsizes, throwing everyone into the water. Jim is killed underwater as the crocodile attack unfolds, and Adam realizes the danger.

Grace helps Adam into a nearby tree and searches the water for Lee, who is tangled under the overturned boat. The beast looms nearby as the women scramble to free themselves.

Lee frees herself, but the crocodile follows. Grace and Adam distract the beast to buy time, and they try to use the boat's ropes to pull Lee to safety, but the craft gets stuck.

An impatient Adam moves for the boat and overturns it, but the crocodile kills him. The women continue to improvise, but their efforts are thwarted and the boat drifts farther from safety.

Night falls and the crocodile continues to feed; Grace's injuries worsen as she bleeds. Lee holds the line, trying to keep hope alive through the long darkness.

The next day the crocodile again confronts them, driving Grace and Lee back to the tree. A passing boat shouts for help, but its propeller drowns out the call. Lee makes another attempt to reach the boat and succeeds.

The beast suddenly attacks, leaping into the boat, and Lee ends up on a very small island alongside Jim's body. She patches herself up, takes Jim's revolver, and finds the gun jammed with mud, which she cleans and unjams.

She uses Jim's detached arm as bait to lure the crocodile, holding the pistol ready to fire. The beast attacks again, but she keeps the gun working, reloads, and shoots it, killing the threat.

The threat is averted, and Lee makes her way back to Grace, who has died from her injuries. Lee mourns her sister as she places Grace on the boat and paddles out of the mangrove.
